I've used the FL820s on an explorer, and my mustang many times. While I've never cut them open, i've never had an issue. If there is any doubt though, like others are saying pick up some MC oil and an air filter.
I have about $100 in reward money built up over many years.
Great idea about buying oil. Never thought of buying oil from Ford. Wish they had full synthetic, but the MC Blend is good stuff, from what I have seen here.
Gonna get all three wiper blades also. Should have no problem spending all of it.
Need shocks, but I won't have the dealer do any more wrenching. Have a friend that was their main mechanic, who now has his own shop. I trust him, so he will do all future wrench work on the Ford.
Thanks for the ideas!
I'm pretty sure they do make a full synthetic. I had my Mustang in one time for inspection/emissions and I was lazy and asked them to change the oil (I'm sorry guys, it was really cold out, and I needed a new drain bolt and... I know no excuses I felt bad about it too). I think it was something like $9 a quart. That said I believe most 5w20 MC blends do pretty well in most fords from a UOA point of view.
