Update: The dealership called and said they "think" it is the valve body, so they ordered one and will install it. I did contact GM customer asistance and voiced my concerns with 1) My lack of faith in their ability to fix the problem without "guessing" as they apparently don't really know what is causing the problem so they are just throwing parts at it. They already replaced a bunch of parts and the problem persists. If they completely understand how the transmission works, then they should be able to accurately diagnose it right the first time, and if they don't know how it works, they shouldn't be "repairing" them and 2) the lack of warrantee of the transmission when (if)it finally does get fixed. They called the dealership and reported that they are confident this will correct the problem, and GM then said they will wait and see before offering me any other kind of entended warrantee.

In most cases, if you have documented attempts to fix an issue in the warranty period, the manufacturer will continue to work with you outside of warranty. That is not cool at all that they are just going to kick you to the curb at 36K after repeated attempts to fix this.

Is there another dealer nearby you could try instead? It sounds like the one you are going to now has no idea how to fix what they sell.

"think"

Wow... isn't that an inspiring level of confidence?

I have two words for you my friend.... DOCUMENT EVERYTHING.

Document all phone calls... the number you called, what was said, who said it, and when it was said. Keep copies of all paper correspondence. Get promises from the dealership in writing. Make sure all repair orders from the dealership are complete (work performed, parts replaced).

The time it takes to document everything *now* will pay off many times over if this comes back to haunt you later.

Well we got the trailblazer back from the dealer and it appears to be working OK now. I will contact GM about an extendeded powertrain warrantee as the entire drivetrain has been repeatedly shock loaded when it reved up at a stop then slamed into gear before they finally got it fixed right. We will see what their response is.
