This is NOT the correct refill/level checking procedure on the rodeo, I have 2 rodeo's with the same automatic transmission.
These trucks DO have to be *slightly* warmed up, NOT driven, prior to checking the ATF level.
If you drive them and THEN check the level, it will show the fluid being too high and it will pour out on you.
The correct way is to start with a cold, first thing in the morning truck/engine, start it up let it idle for 2-3min, then check the level. You do NOT need to drive it, nor do you want to drive it first.
This procedure takes all but 20min tops, no more then a typical oil change.
If your Ascender calls for Dex III or Dex VI, you can safely use Castrol Import ATF in both situations, and in both the rodeo and ascender....the Ascender probably has the 4L60, the rodeo has 4L30 transmission.
