Holy smoke my trans was low 2 full quarts and I rushed for fluid and could only find Supertech High Mileage Transmission Fluid at Walmart. I put it in and it read at the full mark. I'm at 96K and I'm gonna flush the trans at 100K. Is it ok to leave the Supertech in their for 4K or will that stuff damage my trans?

For 4k you can even put sunflower oil

Did you check the fluid at cold/hot or in park or neutral ? what make check the transmission fluid ? find out why it loose fluid first ?
It's an automatic. I hadn't checked it in awhile and I check it after a 30 mile ride and it didn't even register on the dip stick. I put about 2 and half quarts in and now it is full. I am not leaking fluid at all. I had a trans line bust and they replaced it and said they filled the trans back up. My guess is they didn't fill it back up.

How long did they fix the transmission line ? I do bring it back and let them fill it up for themself, inscase something happent to transmission. But seem like you already fill it up. if it run fine drive find, leave it alone.

It ran fine, something just told me to check the transmission fluid and thank god I did. Can't take it back as it was done in Florida and I am in VA now. It runs the same with full fluid so I should be good. I want to do a full trans flush, filter and all at 100K.
Why wait the 4K? Change it now...?

Just doing research on it and my vehicle calls for Dexron III but GM folks been saying that you can use Dexron VI now in place of Dexron III. Trying to confirm this with GM before I make a choice.

Mobil 1 ATF work very well on dexron III application.
Let me tell ya you learn something new everyday. Dexron VI is a GM made synthetic transmission fluid. I might go with that or just an equivalent.

I've had good luck with the Supertech ATF that says compatible with Dexron III/Mercon.

Well I'm gonna do a complete flush and fill soon, TC and all with Dexron VI. Don't know which brand yet that depends on price.

I'm gonna try the codes as the codes didn't work for motor oil but they worked for gear lube.

sm00thpapa, you didn't specify which vehicles' transmission you were speaking of(Ascender/Rodeo) as I beleive either can use DexIII. I have used Mobil 1 synthetic ATF in many transmissions calling for DexIII and I liked it very much. I guess you can use DexVI but, I really wouldn't know!

Yes it was hot and I moved the gear shift into all gears before checking it while running.

It's the Ascender and GM recommends to use Dexron VI now in place of Dexron III since they no longer make Dexron III. My Rodeo doesn't even have a trans dip stick. You have to go underneath and pull the fill plug to check it and such a hassle as you have to follow some crazy procedeures to do it. You have to drive a certain distance and get the engine to a certain temp before checking it or it will be off. I always save that check for the dealers. And by the way I think the trans just blew on it. Wife started it and the engne started fine and when she put it into gear it went crazy vibrating the vehicle as if it was going to blow up. She cut it off quick and when I tried to start it again it had the same issue vibrating really bad. Seems like the engine and trans didn't link together when she put it in gear. Have to get it checked out.
