Oh yeah....that'll be great when Big Brother shuts your car off going 75 down a busy highway with no exit in sight.
 
Just what we need -- more sensors in our cars.

Wasn't it Saab or Volvo that came out with something similar a few years back? It was some car in Europe. You had to blow into a breathalyzer in the dash. If you didn't pass, the car wouldn't start. The problem was, you could have always gotten someone else to "pass" the test for you...

This is just an interlock device. Same thing could be done with seat belts in occupied seats. If the seat belt is not buckled the vehicle can be kept out of gear, it it removed while in motion the car could be safely disabled and an alarm sounded. Auto manufacturers could also be forced to install compulsory speed limiters at a percentage of the nations maximum speed limit. This is simply technology and the goverment is not requiring any of it.
