Valvoline MaxLife (and now Valvoline Restore and Protect) is really good ATF. Not for use with engines.
I would start by using what you have and removing the transmission pan for cleaning and adding magnets if you can.I’m piggy backing here to hopefully avoid starting a new thread - i have a 2017 Sienna with the UA80E 8spd AISIN transmission.
It’s got 77k miles original, whole life in Texas, never had a fluid service. I bought Idemitsu TLS-LV to do two drain and fills with to get over 66% new fluid in the system… I’m now considering the new Valvoline Restore and Protect ATF, or Maxlife because im a Valvoline man and although my transmission seems unaffected by the issues that the early 8spd AISIN was known for, i still want top tier fluid in there and a majority of it to be fresh, not just one drain and fill. Any thoughts anyone?
I’d like to remove the pan, but it’s kinda blocked by the transmission support crossmember and its difficult to do without raising/supporting the engine and transmission to gain access. I’m not too keen on that… considering an exchange with the cooler lines, but that also seems harder to me than just doing several drain and fills.I would start by using what you have and removing the transmission pan for cleaning and adding magnets if you can.
Thumbs up for Valvoline and I would check the pan & magnets after a year or maybe ~5k miles (next engine oil change).
Keep those magnets clean, it's the best protection the transmission has and they don't work when they're loaded with metal.
What is the question exactly? All of the fluids you mentioned are aftermarket fluids, none will cause damage.I’m piggy backing here to hopefully avoid starting a new thread - i have a 2017 Sienna with the UA80E 8spd AISIN transmission.

Kind of hoping for anyone with the same transmission to comment on how it went using fluid other than WS. I see mixed thoughts, some folks fear mongering saying WS or die, and others saying that anything will work, seems inconsistent. What is the question exactly? Yes, lots of imagination out there in regards to ATF.Kind of hoping for anyone with the same transmission to comment on how it went using fluid other than WS. I see mixed thoughts, some folks fear mongering saying WS or die, and others saying that anything will work, seems inconsistent.
I would strongly recommend you look into removing the pan for cleaning. I expect the magnets are fairly loaded up by now.I’d like to remove the pan, but it’s kinda blocked by the transmission support crossmember and its difficult to do without raising/supporting the engine and transmission to gain access. I’ll revisit the prospect… I did want to add some N52 magnets to the pan at the least, but if dropping it is feasible i may go for it, and have them do a full fluid exchange (not flush).I would strongly recommend you look into removing the pan for cleaning. If I couldn't do it myself I would buy a new pan (check the parts lists for magnet locations) and take it to a shop to have it replaced. Instruct the shop not to clean the old pan so that you can clean and inspect. You can swap the old pan (cleaned) back in at a later date and repeat. You're just paying for their time & equipment, it should be a quick job.
ATF has been well understood for decades, the critical issues are compatibility, cleanliness and not overheating. You primary issue now is getting the system clean, fluid choice is whatever is handy for you.Kind of hoping for anyone with the same transmission to comment on how it went using fluid other than WS.
