Toyota is doing fine

Toyota on Thursday reported a 35.3 percent jump in US sales in March, rebounding from a series of mass safety recalls which have undermined the embattled Japanese automaker's reputation.
"Toyota's strong sales performance in March reflects our customers' continued confidence in the safety and reliability of our vehicles and their trust in the brand," said Don Esmond, senior vice president of automotive operations for Toyota Motor Sales USA.

"We are standing by our cars, and we're grateful that our customers are standing by Toyota."

Unlike most automakers, Toyota primarily reports its US sales in percentages adjusted for the number of selling days.

Toyota's unadjusted sales grew 40.7 percent in March to 186,863. Its sales for the year-to-date were up an adjusted 8.7 percent at 385,686.

The throttle shouldn't stick on any brand new car! What's next? Toyota selling Camrys with blown engines and you have to pay $5000 extra if you want one that is new?

The vehicles I like (4 Runner , Tacoma, FJ, Land Cruiser) Have no incentives and they are selling anyway.

It would take a lot to run those buyers away from Toyota. They've been told constantly for over 30 years that Toyota's are the best whether it's true or not.

Here are the actual U.S. sales of cars and light trucks for MARCH 2010:
GM 188.0 K units
TMC 186.7 K
FMC 183.4 K

What about the almighty Tundras? $40,000 for a pick-up and the frames were rotting away prematurely. I do like the FJ Cruiser but it costs too much and it is a gas hog.

I should not have to worry about putting my car into neutral. Any competent driver should know, but I should not have to worry about it with a brand new car.

Tundras have incentives currently
Jeep Jk Wranglers are expensive too. Vehicles that people are going to want cost more. to get a FJ or a Well equipped Wrangler you are going to have to get upwards of 30k. That's what that class of vehicle cost in 2010

Well when one's purchase is based solely on what automotive media hacks tell you, then as long as the hacks keep recommendeding you'd keep buying.

Neither dead nor alive will I be found in a Toyota. When the current superior quality and engineered Domestics prove themselves (since that's what apparently needs to be done to appease some folks) Toyota will be second class, and trust me, no one will forget the deaths and lies that came from that corporation; just like the Pinto gets brought up from "that crowd", the deaths and lies will be brought up by those that remember. The Volt is just around the corner, and will put the Prius firmly in paper bag car of destruction territory. The Fusion is an incredible car, the new Taurus is unbelievable, Equinox, Edge, Corvette, Camaro, Challenger etc. will put Toyota to shame, and be able to stop fully when the brakes are depressed overhead power lines or not! 8.5 MILLION RECALLS! How many have been fixed? How many more crashes will be heard on the news? Doing fine? How about the resale values on the cars they had to give away in order to make any sales? That's going to hurt them. Major leasing companies are dropping Toyota because no one wants one as a rental! GM has this week, and Ford will show on Thursday some great sales numbers. Screw Toyota, they lied to us in order to save some money, and it's indisputable, their quality is not what it once was. A GM 43% rise in sales is a lot more cars sold than Toyota's 40% rise; the figures for the second half of the month will show a fade in the Toyota sales. GM's Buick alone is up an incredible 74+%! The shedding of Pontiac and Saturn and the closing of unneccessary dealerships is making GM leaner and much more competitive, and Ford was never doing too bad to begin with! BE AMERICAN-BUY AMERICAN!

No, they started the spiel before Toyotas were even on the roads here in NA to have any experience. The runaway problem isn't phasing them. And I don't accept that all the buyers could possibly be comparing similar domestics. Granted maybe some felt they had more reliability in comparision, but I'm talking about the majority. They don't even keep their car mush past the warranty. I've known plenty of poeple who had great luck with a domestic yet wanted brand X because the media said so.
