NEW YORK -- Toyota has issued a voluntary recall for certain 2022 and 2023 Tundra and Tundra Hybrid trucks in its largest recall of 2023.

The manufacturer announced Thursday 168,000 vehicles in the US have a plastic fuel tube that could "rub against a brake line and develop a fuel leak." The leak could potentially cause a fire "in the presence of an ignition source," Toyota added.

The company will replace the tube for free and is preparing to make the replacement parts available. In the meantime, Toyota said its dealers "will install protective materials and a clamp on the fuel tube at no cost to customers."

Toyota will notify vehicle owners who are affected by the faulty part by early October. Owners can visit Toyota.com/recall and enter either their VIN number or license plate information to see whether their car is included in the recall.

This is the seventh recall involving the 2022 or 2023 Tundra model. Previous recalls included problems with the car's electronic parking brake system, loose axle nuts, and a software issue with the vehicle's rearview camera.

In March, Toyota conducted a safety recall in the US of about 130,000 2022 and 2023 Tundras, due to a truck-bed cover that could detach from the vehicle, making it a potential crash hazard.

The most recent Tundra recall was on July 7. It involved improperly welded chains which are used to hold a spare tire underneath the vehicle."

I wonder what Scotty Kilmer will say.

Man I’m still happy I went with the 22 tundra over a 22 F-150 so far only 2 recalls to fords 200 😂😂✌🏽

I just received a similar “don’t park your suv in your garage until this recall is fixed” letter from Lincoln. Battery charging sensor is malfunctioning and may lead to a fire. Their mitigation plan is to add an inline fuse somewhere… lovely.

Oddly you'd think these rubbing on and other fuel lines scenarios would be avoidable! I believe lots of cars/trucks have had similar issues.

I know our Volvo and the Subie had a fuel line fix for instance. CRV had a fuel line recall. Can't remember if the Ody did. Tacoma had the fuel pump failure campaign.

Maybe I'm just lucky.

2022 Tundra has 6 recalls to the 2022 F-150’s 10… and yet the F series still outsold the Tundra by over half a million 🤣
I’ll still take my tundra I have much better chance of making it to over a half a million miles than a F-150 🤓😂😂🤣

The last time I bought a Toyota I was very impressed at how everything underneath was laid out and secured. I have seen that on other Japanese cars as well. Something lost in translation between Japan and San Antonio?

Hilarious we have to turn a Toyota recall thread into a Ford bash to deflect...Toyota fan boys can't admit Toyota isn't perfect.

That is usually the case, i've chopped a few cars in my lifetime, 1998 corolla and a 2005 Scion Tc into pieces for the junkyard and marveled how well sorted the brake/gas lines usually are. This is unusual for Toyota.
