Toyota 5.7 Valley leak

I have done a valley pan on a BMW M60. I am sure they are similar. Not hard, but tedious and not great if you are like me and trying to avoid back surgery - but that is a landcruiser and sits higher. Photograph everything to keep track.

Anything you take out that is plastic will be brittle, so be careful and I would not reinstall anything that is plastic - so on my car I changed the PCV while I had it out to take one example. Think I also changed the auxiliary water pump and dual valve for the hvac, but this was a few years ago. Point is, Anything that has to come out, or that you have good access to while the intake manifold is out, you should consider changing for improved reliability. I know this is a Toyota so everyone thinks nothing ever breaks, but while Toyotas are very good they age like everything else so a job like this provides opportunities for additional preventive maintenance on 15 year old car.

If you aren’t comfortable with the job, it’s probably 1k to 1.5k in labor at a good Toyota shop. That is not unfair price wise if you know what is involved and put some value on your own time.

Good luck, hth.

Yes I am exactly that. I have a high creeper, which helps, but still it taxing for sure. Asked around here at a few shops, $1800 was the average. So looks like I am flying this one solo.

Looks like fun though. and i will learn about this engine a bit, on the bright side

Found this parts list online, should help you if you wind up doing it yourself
Thanks for this. It has saved me a bunch of time.....other than the following:

The heat exchanger, 16870-38050, for me at least is incorrect. The 38050 is much smaller than the 38010, so not sure what the deal is with that.......but so far that is the only thing that has not been accurate. I even crossed the numbers with Lexus, and Toyota an both agreed, but the part that I ordered is much smaller than the one that came out.

Hope they take it back.

The one that came out looks nice, but looks can be deceiving.

Oh no sorry about that, hope they take it.
They will, with restock fee. I am doing the job myself, so a $30 restock is nothing. Having the right intake gaskets and other are great. Evidently the 38050 is for a sequoia? I guess the 5.7 in the LX and LC is different than the tundra\ sequioa. But plaged by the same issues with leaks.

Hopefully, the sensor harness for the knocks will be in soon, after that, (assuming I dont mess something up) I can get back on the road.
