As some as you may know. Recently, I got me a new to me low mileage 09 LX570.

Anyway, it seem as though there is a coolant leak. Visual inspection indicates the "Valley leak".

For those of you who know what it is, what parts are needed to complete the job? Big job? Suicidal though job? Easy but laborious job?

Any insight will be nice to have. I am going to youtube this one, as I am new to Yotas, but insight here is valuable. Thanks in advance.

It’s not uncommon for 4.6 and 5.7s. We don’t know your mechanical ability so only you can answer that. I would say it’s a few steps more complicated vs an oil change, and you need attention to detail and patience.

Do you have any pointers or "in the know" info on the operation?

I have higher than average mechanical skills I would say. Not an chief mechanic by any means, but I can turn a wrench carefully.

This gentleman gives a good practical overview on a 4.6. Should be very similar. I would consider getting a top side creeper since most of the work is removing the intake.

Found this parts list online, should help you if you wind up doing it yourself

If you the right tools and are mechanically inclined you should be able to do it. It will look crazy the first time you do it but it can be done. Just make sure you label everything or take pictures of everything to make sure it goes back right. I’ve done these before. Not something I consider a “big job” but can be tricky your first time doing it. If I remember correctly you will need an E8 (inverted torx 8) socket so make sure you have that before starting too so you don’t have to try to find one same day. Make sure you got RTV too the Toyota stuff is ridiculously expensive and the Permatex or whatever brand works just as well. Also if you want to while you have easy access then you can replace the PCV valve while you have it apart. I’m a Toyota tech so have done a couple on the 4.6 and 5.7 engines pretty much both the same concept.

above was a toyota parts list that @Andyd95 graciously provided. I entered it all in https://www.toyotapartsdeal.com/.

By looking at the different diagrams it looks right......would you recommend that vendor or just go up to the dealer?
I’d say you’d save some money by ordering from that site based on the prices of some of those parts. Doesn’t hurt to go get an estimate at your dealership parts counter either if OEM is the way you want to go.

Haha. All of us Toyota techs suspect it’s just rebranded Permatex because it smells exactly the same and is the same color. That’s one thing I’d just go to the parts store and get unless it’s somewhat cheap on the parts website. Oh and the Toyota one should include the “tube squeezer” as we call it 😂 to help get the RTV out.

do you think the toyota pink coolant is better? i did top it off will napa universal coolant, because that is what i had, but there are mixed feelings about mixing coolants.

of course, i want it to be 100%
Is this what Toy calls their FIPG?

If so, yeah, basic Permatex black seems fine if you can tolerate the cure time. Right Stuff if not.
I was think right stuff, i have had success with that before.

Toyota pink is better than any universal coolant for sure.

I’d hit up the local dealer just so you give them the VIN verify there isn’t anything else they normally sell/recommend and all #’s are correct. I’d talk to them about seeing what they can do to match or get close to online pricing, it seems some are willing to meet you close. As far as coolant OE Toyota, GC Pink, Zerex, or Pentosin are regarded as good
