Picked up an local ad for this stuff...kinda surprised to see it.Prices were pretty good....makes me want to try it... Read a little about it, in threads like this:

Know it's made by elf, and liked by imports, but beyond that, I need to be schooled.

Thinking about some 5w30 or 0w30 for the Cobalt and running it for a long time....

Total 0W30 can be a good value but is no better than M1 0W30 AFE which meets more specs. I'd buy it only if less expensive than M1.

This brand appears to be slowly coming into U.S. distribution.
There will no doubt be a killer MIR deal when they get serious about national retail distribution.
It would be interesting to see someone do a run of this oil and post a UOA.
I'm sure that it's a good oil, like any other current spec product sold here.

I'm running Ineo MC3 5w30 (low SAPS) in my 2003 Silverado 4.8 now. I got a deal on it but was concerned with running a low SAPS with our sulphur rich US fuel, but I don't drive my truck very much. It has 26K miles and will probably have about 4K on the oil when I change it in 2 years. It is working well and staying very clean.

Total Quartz 0w30 meets these specs:

ACEA A3/B4
API SL / CF,
Mercedes Benz : MB p. 229.5
BMW Long Life 01
Volkswagen : VW 502.00/505.00
General Motors : GM LL-A025/B025
Peugeot et Citroën, Gas and Diesel PSA E05/D05 Niv3

Does M1 0W30 also meet them?

The OP needs to look for an A5 oil which M1 AFE 0W-30 is.
I'm sure they make one. Liqui-Moly certainly do.

Wait-it's too heavy for a Ecotec engine?

It's not really any different from any of the other OTS oils (Pennzoil Plat/Ultra, Mobil 1, etc). If you can get it cheap, may as well give it a try.

Thanks!
This was a very impressive UOA for a BMW N52 with not that many miles from new.
This oil would be a nice alternative to M1 0W-40 or GC.
Didn't realize that the 0W-30 was an A3 oil, so it wouldn't be a suitable choice in place of something like M1 0W-30 AFE.

Well it is different being a heavy (HTHSV 3.5+) A3 oil.
PP/PU and M1 5w30 are lighter A5 oils (HTHSV 3.0-3.2cP).

Consiquently it is heavier than necessary for the OP's engine.
As mentioned they do make an A5 oil which is what would be a preferable choice.

Yes, I know it's an A3/B4. Just saying that as far as specs/basestocks go, it's nothing extraordinary.

The 9000 0w30 is slightly more compelling and probably has a lot of PAO.

In other words, it would still work...
