The old Tecumseh Sno-King on my late 70's Toro finally gave up the fight. I put a used Honda GC-190 engine on it. Came off a pressure washer. The old Toro throws snow better than ever!

So why did the engine go? Snow blower engines cannot get a whole lot of hours of use any one year. I know it builds up over time.

In a low snow year maybe 2-3 hours and a high snow 10-15 hours (for the season)

Really depends on location and property.
I know I might have had 5 hours last year

but this year so far probably 20 hours.

and 6-10" coming in wed.

I want to repower an older snowblower but the fab work to replace the twin counter-rotating shafts is not minimal.

You can never have too much power.

Now, rip out the air filter and open up your carb jets. You could even get a 1/4" bigger output pulley if it's not bogging.

I love those old Toros. Great machines! I'm currently restoring a 1978 Toro 826.

If you want more throwing power get some of those rubber impeller kits off ebay. They cost $30 or so and really bring back the power the machine had when it was new.

Right there with you man, I'm up in Cleveland. Bought a 526 SWE a few years back and barely used it the first 2 years. More hours this season that the past 2 combined. Figure I'll be using it a couple times tomorrow as we're scheduled for 5-10" as well.

Ummm...this is Michigan, not Atlanta.
