D Bone, where do you order your Torco from? I might be interested in running one interval of it just to compare it. Right now I have my first fill of Pennzoil Platinum 5w20 and like it a lot. I just filled my tank (5-spd. manual) and registered 34mpg. Over the life of the car though, 30mpg is what we're averaging (I've tracked every tank). Getting 28.5mpg in the auto is pretty good knowing what we know about the mpg's on the autos.

Just as tenderloin said, I buy it from something like mmm, torcoracingoils.kon

From what I see, here in Greece I can purchase the Torco SR-1 for 8,40 euro per quart,+ tax, and free shippment, it doesnt sound that bad does it? Its exactly the same price I buy my M1

And the reason you would want to buy a non qualified oil when you can buy an API SM and ILSAC GF-4 Group IV for the same price is?

No special reason, I just trust some brands, Torco has been arround since 1950, with or without API specs they made it till our days, you think I should ask my car if it wants to be treated or not with API SM and ILSAC GF-4?

I bet you don't take the "Do Not Remove" tags from your mattress/pillows etc. either

If TORCO is good enough for drag racing, nascar etc etc, then its good enough for me as well

I think people were saying the same thing when Mobil 1 came out with synthetic oils, as we can see today Mobil had the feature in there hands

He lives in Greece. What does he care about the SM of GF-4?

Seriously, get over it!!! Nobody is forcing you to use it so don't worry about it.

There are a couple of oils I would like to use, but, I still would like to see the API Certification on them.

Ron AKA, respecfully, Holding a "license" that guarantees nothing but min specs does not justify a oil. Use analysis to guide instead of marketing manipulated test results. If they weren't you could view all the qual testing.
Torco is a good oil and shows well in realworld oil analysis. They choose not to bend to the API because their target market could care less.

Well said Terry.

I will have a UOA of Torco SR-1 5w-20 in my Mazda3 2.3 in about 6 weeks. I'll post it here when I receive it, then I'll know for the good, or the bad, as to how my Torco performs.

Torco SR-1 is SL/GF-3. To meet SM/GF-4, a key test, IIIG is done. This test is 50% more difficult than the previous IIIF test used in SL/GF-3 oils. ILSAC approved GF-4 in 2004; why would you want to purchase a GF-3 oil at this point in time?

BGK, that API/ILSAC spec is last they submitted to. We really don't know how the formulas would do in IIIG sequence test. Based on real time UOA and experience with the formulas they would do quite well.
