58% of a small TOTAL percentage is not that much.

Remember very little of the oil market is Syn oils.

Unless you narrow your scope to German cars only..... And then it is pretty high

Belle Tire does Amsoil OCs for around 75 bucks...

We have too! Amsoil XL -7500 was sold as a 7500 mile oil change interval oil was it not when it first came out? M1 can easily out do 7500! Before SM/GF-3/4 We say M1 do almost as well as Amsoil in a GM V8. So it is non-sense to make it sound like AMsoil is in a class of it's own even their own testing confirms that M1 is just a tad short of their high water mark! They have traditionaly done better at extended drains then other oils but not always by much and most of the time they where using bypass filtration along with full flow filtration.

Is the XL 7500 line their SM GF-3/4 certified line up or do they still not have an oil with API Cert? Can not really compare an oil not API certified for SM GF-3/4 and Energy COnserving with one that is now can we? Well not if we want to be fair and keep things level!

Mobil-1 has a great reputation for reducing wear to super low levels and for keeping engines clean. That is from actualy owners that use it. They do not market that much in fact I see more add's for Castrol and for PP then for any other oils on TV and in print!

Yes, you can go to the API website and see that the Amsoil XL line IS fully API (SM) Licensed and Energy Conserving; it has been API Licensed at least since 2002.

And although many other products on the market can go 7,500-miles/6-months, the Amsoil XL line is the only product I've seen marketed to quick lube shops to claim as such.

For example, I talked to a well known national quick lube chain that offers Pennzoil Platinum (PP) as their synthetic motor oil change. I asked them what they recommended for an Oil Change Interval and they said 3,000-miles/3-months. Then after talking with them further about UOA reports and current oil technology, they conceded that the PP was good for 5,000-miles but that corporate would not allow them to tell the customers that.

Big oil and quick lubes love the 3,000-mile OCI.

Yep

I have one near me, and they use all Mobil Products,
Drive Clean, Clean 5000, 7500, and M1.

I bet a good deal of the profit margin is though.
