I need to clean out the drain pipe of an old sink. The good news is that there is a clean out plug. The bad news is that it's just 2 round tabs I have no idea how to remove it!

What kind of wrench do you need to get it off?

Are they tall enough to get crescent wrench on. On the OD is there enough meat to get a pipe wrench on?

Blasphemy I know. :)

You will need some kind of spanner wrench I'm sure but finding it will be the issue.

Hard to judge size from the pic. Can you get a crowbar/prybar in between the tabs? cant see how high the tabs are. I might try drilling holes in a piece of angle iron and making my own wrench.

EDIT: i might use a grinder and cut a slot in the end of a piece of angle iron and try that.

UPDATE:

I was able to get a vice grip around it, and it came out easily. The grip didn't always hold on tight, and it slipped a few times, but I got it eventually.
