Stuart, what's the purpose of the "snap on plastic cover"? Do you keep a library of old chopped up filters?

David (I use freezer bags - shhhhh!)

For those of us obsessive enough to drain & then cut open used oil filters, it quickly becomes obvious that there are many paths up the mountain. If you have any of these new coffee cans that open by peeling off a heavy duty foil disc, and you have "std." diameter oil filters(not the teacup size), the filter rim will fit just inside the can rim, perfect for draining after drilling a hole in the dome, & you have a nice snap on plastic cover for the can when you're through!

Maxwell House products use these cans, maybe others. Just thought I'd pass it along.
