I've had an itch for a 1911 platform for a few months. Doing some "research" and thinking about what I currently have, I landed on a full size (my CC is a 3.1" shield plus and 3 inch SW 686+), 9mm (cheaper to shoot), double stack.
The Tisas came up as a great entry 1911 with the features it brings. Optic cut, steel slide/frame with polymer grip module. Titanium firing pin/series 70 style, really nice trigger. The commander size one at my LGS was awesome in the hand. I found a Duty (5 inch) Gen 1 online for $592 after taxes, etc and got it. The Gen 2 are a couple hundred dollars more but you get iron sights, and bull barrel, but I'm good with this firearm. Bull barrel isn't needed for my use, and I new id put a dot, so fiber optic irons is not needed.
After 555 rounds, these are my impressions:
Super smooth shooter. Very accurate/more accurate than my abilities. No reliability issues through 500+ rounds. Trigger has broken in very nicely, very short and very crisp break. Very minimal reset, too. The fitment and finish seems great, especially for the price point. All the controls are firm/click well with no mush.
Zeroed my Osight SE today at 15 yards and was landing shots on top of each other if I did my part
Even had decent groups at 25 yards (top middle group).
