TireRack Delaware Pickup Experience Review

Saturday morning Track pick-up with the wife was another great road-trip experience with light to medium traffic. McMuffin, coffee and tunes. I thought I was 18 again without a worry in the world.
Arrived at 9:30AM

Take 495 South and then Exit 2 Terminal Ave
Make a right for Route 9 South
approx 5 miles, cross over the rail road crossing and make an immediate left onto Anchor Mill Rd
Drive straight and park before the canopy to do the check-in

Two customer service agents were present and when I got to the desk I was next in line. Presented my ID, Goodyear Credit Card and received my printed invoice.
Need to wait an over night or the next business day ie Monday to get an email version of the paid invoice for GY's rebate documentation.

TireRack was clean with a very open waiting room and could easily accommodate 10-15 customers. I told the customer service agent, I must be in the right place because it smelled like tires.
(Probably 8 hrs of volatile tire out-gassing is not healthy.)

In summary, I would definitely go back and pickup my tires to save the $40 in shipping and tax. The only thing missing was a Keurig coffee/tea machine, snacks and bottled water.

Sounds like it works if you happen to live near a distribution warehouse. As it stands-IMHO they are not price competitive once you factor in freight. Nice you live within a reasonable distance.

There are other smaller stores that are cheaper. Plus I normally just either have a tire store price match them or I just go to Costco these days. When they have $70 off Michelin and they do their 1 cent installation sale which includes mounting, balancing, and road hazard, they don't come close.

at 8:30AM for a drive date at McDonald's for breakfast and tire distribution warehouse. Lol.

By the way, the restroom was ‘Wawa' gas station quality clean and that is really saying something. Wawa was polled as #1.

Over the years, TireRack has shifted to selling tires near/at manufacture's suggested prices which includes shipping. As of 7/1/2019 (new Pa sales tax law) TRack collects on all shipments to Pa. For shipped products, TRack's only financial advantage is the included 2 yr road hazard warranty.

The other advantages maybe: wider available brands, and tire freshness. Earlier this year, I purchased two RT43s on two different occasions and they were approximately 12 weeks old.

So if I'm going to be driving through Wilmington anyway, I can pick up some tires. Can I do it without paying sales tax?

Yes. Do an online order and specify DE pickup. TireRack charges the credit card at pickup time so it is an on-site DE purchase and therefore no sales tax. In addition, TireRack reduced the total package price by $40 and they call it a pickup discount. Ask for plastic tire bags if you are transporting tires in the rear passenger compartment.

It is a well run organization.
