Here, you're generally looking at around $40, assuming you don't have some deal for free rotations because of where you bought the tires. The Nissan/Infiniti dealer is insanely expensive because the shop manuals insist on resetting the TMPS, which is not required at all. I pay nothing because I do the rotations myself.

To clarify America's Tire/Discount Tire service: Free balance/rotation if you buy tires there, free rotation only(balance is extra) for others.
Free flat repair(and balance after repair) and check/adjust air pressure free for all. This flat repair is free at my local AT(America's Tire).

I don't think so, only regular balance. Flip/remount a directional tire is the same as install a tire(new or used).

That seems to vary by location or perhaps even by store. The GF got the tires rotated on the Lexus a few months back and was charged for the service. Tires were not purchased there.

They mis-mounted a tire ripping the bead then wouldnt own up to it.
They physically tore the headlight wiring harness out of a 2002 accent while installing a battery... somehow... Wouldnt fix it.

Does the E in Walmart TLE stand for express? 'cuz it took 2.5 hours for them to mount and dalance four tires for me. Not even a busy day for them either. Might not go back again, we'll see.

Yep, you're missing going to DT/AT and trying it with tires purchased elsewhere. Real deal ie., SOP. Free rotations and free puncture repair in a repairable area using RMA procedures, no matter where purchased. Balance extra if desired with rotation, but unless one is having a notable vibration, balance unnecessary ime.

That's a new one on me. Now if the tires were balanced in addition to rotation, then there would be a charge for that service.

I don't understand this thought? Directional tires get rotated front to back, vice versa same side, period. That's the way I've done it. Why would directional tires need to be unmounted from rim and remounted on another for a rotation? Not aware that is standard for rotation of directional tires anywhere.
As for topic, guess price is what the market will bear. If one trusts WM, their $10 total seems reasonable. If retailer that sold tire is worth their salt, rotations should be free imo.

Sounds about right. I just had a lengthy ordeal with getting my tired rotated and balanced. So about a year and a half ago I dressed the tires with this semi permanent tire gloss and it began to turn yellow and peel. I've tried using several solvents to remove it without any luck. Finally I decided to spend the $70 and most of my Saturday to get them rotated and balanced (tires only) so the opposite side would be exposed. The folks at Wal-Mart had a little trouble comprehending how I was instructing them to rotate them, they kept saying the tires cant turn in the opposite direction. I patiently explained to them again, move the right rear tire to the front left, likewise with the left. They finally started catching on and in about 2 hrs. finished the job. However after leaving, I noticed the car was slightly shaking while on the freeway, I ended up having to take it back (this time to a different location) to have them take a look (another Saturday waiting at Wal-Mart), turns out they double weighted the tires, not sure what that means, but they offered to sell me new tires at half price because of the mistake. Not sure how detrimental it actually was to the tires because I really didn't drive much but this is something to look out for when you go.
