Different Tire Diameters on Drive Axle

I have been thinking I should rotate my tires on my FWD 2019 VW GTI. FL tire is at 4/32", FR and LR tires are at 5/32" and RR tire is at 7/32". RR tire is newer. If I rotate the rear tires to front will there be any problems related to the disparate diameters?

You'll be fine. People have bigger diameter differences just by buying different brands of tire, or by buying a brand new one with 11/32.

The main concern with FWD transaxles is "differential pin walkout" but I'm not aware of VWs being particularly susceptible to this. It's more of a "don't do one legged peel outs daily" warning.

Rotate without worry. We are always having to compensate with micro-steering, even on very straight roads. The differential is always doing a very small bit of work, even on a perfectly straight road.

It’s more of a concern front-rear with AWD systems which use friction members to limit wheelspin. These systems want to see variations within a minimal allowance.
