Tire rebates

Do you purchase tires with a rebate under the assumption that it might get declined, even if you have all the correct information and you are 100% eligible?

Asking becasue I bought some cooper tires becasue of the rebate. It got declined and the person I spoke with agreed I included everything needed and was 100% eligible for the rebate.
They sent it to "escilations for review" and was told they have "the final say". I am going to be so mad if they come back with it declined again.
I mean, what gives? Do they automatically decline a certain percentage of rebates thinking people wont fight it?
Buying tires seems as much of a scam as buying a new car these days.

Often a rebate has a limited number of rebates and then ends. It's in the tiny, tiny, infinitesimally long, fine print. They usually don't state the total number, just that when they've used up the allocation, it ends and you don't get it.

Mobil plays a game with their rebates. They reject a portion of them and I assume a number of people will just let it go. I had one this year that was rejected so I called and the rep said she had no idea why and resubmitted it and it got paid. Politeness wins the day I believe.

I've had occasional rebates from AT purchases. The expected rebate does factor in to the purchase decision, absolutely. I've never had a tire rebate get declined, or experienced anything like what Mobil made us all go through.

It's a game. I enjoy playing. The amount is usually de minimus so losing doesn't cost much.

It's in the fine print. It is what it is. Also, most companies farm their rebate programs out to companies that specialize in managing rebates for other companies. Cost less in the long run. Like hiring an advertising agency is more cost effective than having a department do all the work in-house. Do you think Ford does production of commercials in house?

Never seen a rebate limited to a certain number of submissions. Not how they work.
Now, I have seen rebate offers requiring that you grab a paper form at the retailer, but that doesn't apply in this case.

I could have posted the exact same same story yesterday, down to some specific terminology, except the rebate is from Continental. Somehow I kept my cool after 30 minutes on hold, and was genuinely surprised when the agent came back on after another hold and said they would correct it.

I guessed, and got the person to confirm, that the documentation is screened electronically the first time through. If I want to be generous, I'll say my online order confirmation got rejected because it didn't look like a typical invoice, even though I also included the required installation receipt. The cynic in me says a lot of people will buy because of the rebate, will jump through the right hoops, but then won't follow up after the computer rejects them.

I had issue with Cooper for rebate that even with live person required my tire dealer to send in more information. Cooper didn't like the generic invoices the dealer uses. A bit of jumping hoops but got cleared up.

I'm on 1.5 months with the Continental rebate but finally got cleared and approved. Yes also rejected by AI prescreen thing. Discussions with the customer service rep seemed they were having many hassles with it kicking out claims that had all documentation correct.

I have never had a rebate declined with Continental or Michelin. I have done a bunch of Michelin rebates in the past 5 years without issue.

Oil rebates?! Had issues with Pennzoil and Mobil....about 1/4 of the time.
