I have a refrigerator for the car for road trips that can run on a cigarette lighter or 120v. When I start the engine on the car, it kicks into high gear with the higher voltage.

If a clamp to the battery terminals unit overloads it blows its internal fuse. The cigarette lighter ones blow the car fuse, necessitating an uncomfortable exploration of your under dash fuse box to find the dead one.

I bought a lighter socket that clamps onto the battery terminals so I don’t have to deal with that again. Besides, once you blow the lighter fuse you’ll probably need to use the battery terminals anyway.

I have had my NOCO tire inflator for a few months now, and I love this thing!

The Noco inflators do seem very nice. I would love something with an accurate auto-shutoff. I have the Viair 85P (same model tested by PF) and the gauge is tiny and slightly off.

NOCO has an auto shut-off which seems pretty accurate-I think against my Etenwolfe guage, within a pound or two. Don't know which one is right, but close enough. "Good enough for government."

An honorable mention goes out to my HF Item #69284 -a socket powered unit.
The small compressor quick-connects with a quality, wound hose, enabling precise handling.
No blown fuses nor excessive heat. It sounds solidly constructed and works very well for what I need too.
It's quick at touch ups and quite good on 'dead flat' tires.
Its built in gauge jibes with my favorite tire gauge.

I do want the adaptor in post #22 as I want to isolate any gadget from any vehicle's electric system.

GOOLOO makes a superior jump box/,, tire inflator
Project Farm just tested them all out last week.
I own the GOOLOO GT4000 jump box and the GOOLOO GT160 tire inflator separately.

Good point about the fuses. I didn't think about that.
