Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

My 252k 2013 Honda Civic is being totaled out, but the engine still runs great along with the transmission being pristine. Sad to see it go.

2007 Jeep Liberty 3.7 V6. I bought it for a work/winter vehicle 9 years ago. It won't die. Runs perfect, everything works, no check engine light. I've had it for half of those miles. I always used various Mobil 1 10w30 versions, usually high milage, changing between 5000 and 8000 miles. The last time around I switched to 5w40 Mobil 1 Euro. The previous owner ran bulk 5w30 and had it changed every 3500 miles.

15W-40 ALL THE THINGS!!!
Not mine, but very impressive for an engine that's usually killed by VCM destroying the piston rings, or owners neglecting the timing belt/tensioner service.
Would love to see the inside of this J35.

Judging by where the temp gauge is - VCM is still active on this vehicle. Because when it's disabled - normal operating temp sits lower, unless engine starts to overheat.

Yes, but marketplace is filled with these at $2k-$3k and in need of an engine replacement or rebuild due to issues outlined above. Nice to see one actually taken care of properly, and 15W-40 is just a nice bonus for HDEO fans like me :)
Okay you talked me into it. ;) :D

My 2003 Corolla bought new and use Mobil 1 since new. Now has just over 780,000 km on it. Original engine, trans, clutch and starter.

NICE! Original factory paint? Asking because I am wondering if you have the same auto detailing obsession I once had and you constantly washed and waxed and buffed that paint or........? Did you store that car inside a garage, under a carport or under a car cover for that paint to still look so good. Silver paint is usually one of the toughest colors to maintain. Especially if left out in the sun too much. So, how on earth do you own a 2003 , silver car that is looking that good in 2025? What is your secret? I really do not think it is a re-paint.

Good wax applied every 45 days, and Rust Check or Krown undercoating is the secret.
OH, and, except for the front clip, original paint. Front clip was replaced by a deer.

The Ole Whitey or 02’ Dakota has almost 154k on it. Still runs like top. Plan to 4-5k and pull the OG ULTRA 16 off. And put on either a CQ premium or 2006 era 3614 “extended guard”

2007 Xterra - 198000 miles. 5w-30 Penzoil platinum or PP high milage changed at 10k intervals. Looked ok under valve covers when I did the gaskets. Doesn't burn oil. Engine runs fine.

2002 Avalon 205k. Any generic 5w-30 full syn. Changed at 5k. Doesn't burn oil. Engine runs great. Nice golden varnish when doing valve covers but not sludgy. Currently it's on change 3 of valv R&P.

I'm posting this in this section instead of the General section because it definitely has a lot to do with lubrication.

I just wanted to see how many people here have over 150,000 miles on their original engines, to see what kind of oil you've been using and what kind of intervals.

We talk about a lot of different oils on here, and critique a lot of UOAs, but the absolute best way to find out if any particular routine works, is to look at those people who have had success with it by getting long life from their engine! That is truly what we are all trying to achieve here.

So if you've owned your car since new (or at least know the exact prior history of it from new), please step in and give us your input!

I think this could be a very interesting topic!
