Those with 150,000 miles or more, check in

2016 Honda HRV with 207k on it. Replaced the CVT at 125k with an extremely low mile used one. Been using high mileage oil of whatever brand was on sale for the past 75k mi or so. I've ran full synthetic, but typically it sees a blend and I've probably ran Valvoline High Mileage the most. As far as filters I'd say it's seen Purolator the most, followed by Valvoline and Supertech. The 1.8l isn't a speed demon by any stretch, but it's been a good runner. My daughter turns 11 this summer and I plan to keep it long enough for it to be her first car.

1995 318ti Club Sport 152,600 miles. I took delivery in November 1995. I drive it in any conditions except winter slush and salt. I started out using Mobil 1 15W-50 then migrated to Mobil 1 0W-40 and now I run BMW TPT 5W-30. The OCI ranges from 4,000 to 8,000 miles or every twelve months.
The engine is stock except for a Turner Motorsport/Conforti chip.
It has a close-ratio five speed gearbox with a direct top gear. At 70 mph it's happily spinning at 3,500 rpm. It was my HPDE instructor car from 1996 to 2012.
I replaced the timing chain tensioner with an upgraded part in 2004 (A 20 minute job at most). Aside from that I have only needed to replace a thermostat, the front main seal and the valve cover gasket.
Last year I replaced the entire cooling system except for the heater core, I figured that it was time since ever part was original and I was taking it on a tour with the BMW Classic Car Club where I knew it would see some track time.
So far so good...

2012 Subaru Outback 2.5i
180K miles. Mix of both city and hwy.
5K OCI
5W-30 Full Synthetic of whatever Walmart stocks (Quaker State, Castrol Magnatec, Valvoline, ST)
Subaru OEM filters and a few name brands occasionally: Fram, Wix, Bosch, etc.

No engine work has been needed so far. Does not burn any oil.

Lucky to have that engine. I think oil burning and fuel dilution is much more common in the FB and FA series, but high mileage Subarus that don't burn any oil always get my attention. Most Subaru owners I know drive with a jug of oil in the back!

2015 Chevy Silverado 1500 LT ext. cab 4x4 w/4.3 V6 with 164,000 miles. This is my company truck that I took over with 138k miles when my old boss retired. He had our local mechanic do all of the oil changes, which was Napa synthetic 5W-30 Dexos and a Napa Proformer filter. I believe he just went by the OLM for changes. Since taking over I change the oil myself around 5k miles with the first two OCI's being Mobil 1 0W-40, and now the last three being Valvoline Restore and Protect. I cut the filter open after the last OCI and saw that there were lots of small black carbon bits in between the pleats so I plan on continuing with Valvoline Restore and Protect. It not use any oil between changes/stays exactly on the full line.

I also used my MityVac to perform a double drain and fill on the transmission using Dex VI fluid which greatly improved cold shift performance. Overall it's a solid (though a little underpowered) truck and I would like to keep it on the road as it does everything I need it to for work. It gets 40 miles/day round trip driving to and from the office all highway and averages 18-20 mpg.

Outback was bought new and I like maintaining things. Daughter has a 2017 Forrester with over 100K and it doesn't burn oil either. Same OCI. So I wonder how many of those Subarus were not adequately maintained?

Thanks. I may run a couple of runs of the Valvoline Restore and Protect. If it slows down my quart every 2500 to 3000 miles it'd definitely be worth it.
Commit to at least 4. People see no change even after 3 and then have resolution on the 4th or 5th. And decent chance it cures the oil burning too, if you don't have scored cylinders.

Well the ones I'm thinking of were maintained really well. Specifically, this one well documented here, burned on strict 5k OCIs with high quality synthetic, majority Valvoline Extended Protection. Developed severe oil burning at 60k.

Her friend also had the same 2021 Outback and put off the oil burning until 120k on strict 6k OCIs with Mobil 1 Extended Performance. (link to that report)

Many well documented cases of Outbacks running to very high mileage on Amsoil with no oil burning issues.

I wonder what the difference is.

'06 Altima-no cvt. Conventional auto 4 spd transmission. every two years (approx 20,000-24,000 miles) pan plug drain (about two qts out and in) then flush from transmission cooler line 2 qts at a time (2 out, 2 in) till about 10 or 12 quarts replaced. No problems at all-shifts like a new car-177,000 miles, The '89 camry, 4qts out and in (2 out,2 in, then 2 out, 2 in) at each oil change (every 3500 mi)-also no problems at 155,000 miles.

I have an '03 EJ253 that lived the first few years of it's life with dealer changes, then bulk dino (PYB I'm guessing) 5W-30 for the remaining time. Since I took over it's been on Mobil 1 5W-30 HM. Doesn't burn a drop, has a nickel size drip that's been present forever. Oil pump seal most likely from what my tech tells me. Some days it drips once or twice, other days nothing at all. Seems par for the course for this engine @ ~210,000kms...

2013 Honda Civic LX 1.8L 252k

All I’ve replaced in that mileage is an alternator, a water pump and the valve cover gasket. Motor and transmissionmission are original. Actually 252k miles is what the screen read on the dash before it stopped working last year.

The car is semi-retired since we bought our 2025 Rav 4 in December. My wife is a SAHM and she drives it locally within a ten mile radious between school functions and family. I have never once went over 5k miles on any OCI. Not one. The transmission is a drain and fill type and I have done just that for the last ten years at once a year. I drain and fill the radiator once every couple of years as well. Original thermostat too.
