Maybe a few weeks ago when a transformer down the street popped and the power went off a few seconds.Every month or two is a long time to go without rebooting. How long has it been since the last time?
When you restore open pages/tabs, how many are were talking about?

Years ago I would shut down the computer every night, mainly to save the HDD which would be spinning nonstop. Then I read you don't have to, and of course with SSD, no moving parts to wear out.
Right now I have three Chrome windows on with 10-15 tabs open in each, and one each of Edge and Brave with 5-10 tabs.
I'm actively on it numerous times during the day every day.You should restart at least weekly, if not daily when you're not actively on your computer.
so what is your decision about moving the old hard drive data to a new drive? Picked out a new hard drive??I'm actively on it numerous times during the day every day.
Just ordered this external back up drive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08W1F8YGJ/ref=pe_386300_440135490_TE_item so I can save the critical stuff before replacing the old drive. Then get the same Crucial I have now but twice the capacity, https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-MX500-NAND-SATA-Internal/dp/B078211KBBso what is your decision about moving the old hard drive data to a new drive? ahh nice! I bet you'll update us when you get it all done..Just ordered this external back up drive https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08W1F8YGJ/ref=pe_386300_440135490_TE_item so I can save the critical stuff before replacing the old drive. That's not what I said nor was I referring to "user" data. I'm referring to countless programs that get installed and NEVER properly clean up after themselves when you uninstall them, programs that people install, forget they even have, and never use, and so on.you were saying it's "garbage" well I like to hang onto all of my data over the years
oh then I was mistaken, apologize for that! That does make sense and I do the same thing, clean up programs you never use again and just taking up space. That's not what I said nor was I referring to "user" data. That's not your pagefile. That's just the status of your physical memory. pagefile is virtual memory that's used when you run out of physical memory.
I didn't wait at all. The popup says it CAN'T be opened because of internet security. So much for W7 being insecure.
Pro 64 bit.Which version of W7 do you have (Home, Prof, etc.)?
Why? I'm only now, after 6 years, filling up the 500 GB drive. And after you go SSD, you will never go back to a HDD. Might want to give one a try.I think if you accept that you are a digital "hoarder", no shame in that, I think you should go with an expansive server level HDD (8tb minimum). Clone and expand full use of that 8tb, and keep the SSD as an offline backup.
Could be related to memory leaks from the browser that are normally fixed in updated versions but in his case, at least with Google Chrome, it's stuck on whichever version it is because of the old OS.you are a special use case if you are actually able to tax your 16GB of memory. You actually would benefit from a RAM upgrade.
Don't buy more 'cause your computer only supports 16gb RAM maximumI'll have to dig out my receipts to confirm. Not sure why I thought 32 GB.
Chrome dropped support this month I believe, so should have been updated. I do recommend those with w7 machines still accessing the internet to run Firefox, they seem to be supporting w7 still.Could be related to memory leaks from the browser that are normally fixed in updated versions but in his case, at least with Google Chrome, it's stuck on whichever version it is because of the old OS.
How did you confirm this?Don't buy more 'cause your computer only supports 16gb RAM maximum
Googled the specsHow did you confirm this?
Im not your computer, so cant tell what happened in those 6 years to fill up the SSD. That being said, with phones pushing 1TB for storage, 500gb is kind of hard to pass these days.Pro 64 bit.

Dang, didnt know they still made that as a feature. I guess if the PC is performing as needed, SSD upgrade and be done. If its not performing as you'd like, quite a time to make that jump.Googled the specs
