Why not? The vehicle I'm referencing always used synthetic oil, in fact long before 0W30 even existed, it called for 10W30, 10W40, or 20W50 IIRC. It seems like it was the perfect choice, especially since I was paying the price for synthetic oil all along.

Already stocked up on six 5.1 qt jugs Maxlife Nextgen 5w30. Average price per quart works out to $2.91 because I had various discounts and coupons applied to each jug.

My stash was down to 50 quarts!

But now it is built back up to 80 quarts!

How is blood pressure agonizing over 50 quarts?
Back to normal ?

Is there any reason why most of your stash is 1L containers ?

Yes, Ketchup. We were eating the no salt added ketchup at the time and would stock up when we found deals on it.

Blood pressure goes up when I see Nextgen on sale! Then there is this huge surge of excitement and a state of euphoria as I load the cart, check out, drive home and add it to my stash.

The photograph has all quarts (though if I see liters on sale, I'll grab them) but for a couple gallon jugs on the left. Also note about 30+ bottles of SLOB. The bottles to the left of the pink SLOB bottles is CD4 high mileage oil additive with about 4000 ppm zinc. I may put them up on craigs list though as I don't have much use for them.

LOL I was half expecting that sentence to end "when I eat too much salt, but then I read "when I see Nextgen on sale". Classic BITOG moment there.

At least seeing all the other hoarders here makes me feel better about my 65L stash.

I'm always surprised to see how many people at bitog buy/stash their oil in quart (or liter) bottles. Here in Australia you nearly always get much better prices on 4 or 5 liter jugs. Most of the time the one liter bottles cost anywhere from 50% to 100% more to buy the same quantity.

Yes jugs are far more economical here. Back when I built that stash there were a lot of clearances on quarts. I bought a lot more oil than is in the photo, but had to sell it off because I had too much. I remember that Autozone was clearancing Havoline Synthetic for $2 a quart (think some was even $1 a quart).

Right not the jugs are 5.1 quart for nearly $30 each at the chain auto stores, but under $18 at Meijer and Walmart. As I recall, quarts are running $5.60 (Nextgen) to $6.60 (Maxlife Nextgen) at auto chains and about a dollar less at Meijer and Walmart.

Now I don't have a big ketchup stash (4 bottles) but you ought to see our dark chocolate stash, something like about 40 100 gram bars! That is because we stock up during sales.

Haha. They are pretty. Think I have oil envy now.

Had to look up what SLOB is since I am new here. Looks good especially when you guys got it on clearance. Any noticeable benefit when you used it?

As Paul pointed out, jugs are generally more economical in North America. Aside from clearance specials, at least up here some places that sell in large quantities often sell certain brands only in quarts or litres, and then they're at a reasonable price. Of course, certain brands are only available in litres (i.e. GC, Havoline at least in this province).

Was surprised in ALDI the other day that they had a bin of litre bottles of oil for sale. As uart stated, that's pretty rare.

Black bottle GTX 20W-50 for $6.95/L

As you're mentioning "black bottle gtx", does anyone know what the heck is the difference between the black bottle and the white bottle GTX?

Out local "Auto-One" has the black bottle GTX 20W50 on sale for $12.99 per 5L, whereas the white bottle GTX 20W50 is still regular price about $28 per 5L. They both carry the same name, same grade and both say API SL. So apart from the colour, what's the difference?

BTW. I think this question is specific to the Australian Castrol marketing.

Must be; I've never seen such an animal up here, and you can't swing a dead cat without hitting a bottle of GTX around here.
