Are there any petrol powered sedans capable of 0-60 in 3.2 that get 310 miles per tank? I can't think of any off the top of my head.

Fast charging the little cells that make up one of these batteries shortens their life, this is enough to put me off any of these things until they get the battery life and cost into reality. I can keep a gas engine going indefinitely and not spend 16K doing it.

I think the EV cars have their place. Perfect around town, or drive to work commuter car. It just that 65k is a lot for a grocery getter, even if its fast.
This is a Model 3 Performance, the most expensive configuration.
The Std Range Model 3 is $40K; prices went up at least $5K due to material costs and ???
263 mile range, 5.3 second 0 to 60, 140 mph top speed

Model 3

I rarely drive my 981 more than 100 miles when I have it out. So if I had the desire I could see a nice sporty EV in my future. A 2 door P car EV might push me in that direction. I would miss the exhaust note however :)

I agree ^^^^^^^^

My car modified could maybe get maybe under 4.5 seconds zero to sixty. Obviously not 3.2... Long range mileage is currently 20 gallons times 28 mpg highway... 560 miles. If modified it would drop but not likely not much below 450 miles I'd bet. And if I plugged into the OBD port and changed the tune back to the factory one then back up to 560 miles. Which I could definitely do that. Still a lot more real miles vs the other.

Advertised mileage whether it be gas or electric are all based upon the greatest running conditions possible. Reality often is not what is advertised.

My numbers are based upon actually real world calculation and actual running steady highway condition.

It’s time to start discussing used Tesla’s. These ones are only two years old so I’m wondering if they are lease returns. That would be a pretty short lease. Anyone know?
Tesla does not lease their cars in the traditional sense. There is a lease, but no option to buy at lease end.
You have to turn the car in at lease end.
Elon has this vision of an armada of Teslas running around as robo taxis.

I am not sure if this has changed... I believe you can now buy your Model S or X, but not the Model 3.
Here is the Tesla used car site:
Tesla Used Cars

Or you can make an offer on our car, when the new batteries come out. I need a real stupid Model 3 Performance...

Thank you, Sir!!!!!!! I continue to "not get" why we aren't there with the tech by now. Billions at stake and the tech is close but not quite there. And the infrastructure is lacking. Charging time and the miles per charge are serious issues. Add to it government (US) looking to tax per mile so they can get the EV's just makes it all worse.

I am not opposed but so far, this is starting to become a cram down your throat situation. There is a lot out there that is truly a $$ grab. I am in NY and we were offered many incentives for solar. My home actually is a legitimate jackpot for solar. My home is large and my rear facing roof gets sunrirse to 4pm sun. I've had 4 different contractors out to provide estimates and all 4 were federal government subsidized.

Once you read the contracts, it's almost a crime. The only one with no rights in the contract is the home owner. None of them offer a buy, it is all lease and the terms can change with the electric provider. As stated, I am a believer in alternative energy but common sense is paramount. I can't say just yet as it is new, but I have bought into a solar farm that projects an 8-10% monthly reduction in electric billing. Kinda odd it matches what a complete solar panel system would save me, minus the up front cost. Interested to see how it plays out over a year.

Regarding the adequacy of putting together the batteries to make power packs, although others may have done it before Elon, he was the one who’s said “ good enough, let’s do it” and raised the capital to build factories. Was it really good enough? We’ll have to wait and see until the used cars are 5 years old , not just two years. Also, I’m interested to see if the used car prices follow the same decline as ICE vehicles or if they retain their value better because if interest in the cars. Right now, $50,000 for a used car will only attract the Teslacian wannabees.
