I think the EV cars have their place. Perfect around town, or drive to work commuter car. It just that 65k is a lot for a grocery getter, even if its fast.
True. But a car like that is fully capable of holding its own against any other luxury sedan.

An electric should have an inherent durability and reliability advantage as well.

I want the Corolla version of an electric vehicle. I want the only notable expense to be the drivetrain. A to B, nothing else. Cheap and reliable.

The Chevy Bolt is very popular around here. My neighbor likes her's better than our Model 3. There are 2 on our street.
Perhaps before too long, the Tesla Model 2 will be available. But it will be made in Shanghai, which is a negative for me personally.

Model 2
The guesstimate is 2022 or 2023, which, in Elon years could mean anything.

I might argue that your Corolla might exist today. The Model 3 Std Range starts at $40K, but potential savings (gas, services, etc) gets you close. This very much depends on your particuliar situation...
And there is no Corolla that is as much fun as a Model 3.

The discussion of range with EVs reminds me of all those great ads of people driving their SUVs through forests to tops of mountains. Nope, they’re on a freeway driving 40 miles to work, then back home to surf the Internet. No range required. That’s what the OTHER vehicle is for; the Thanksgiving drive to Grandma’s house.

I agree on the durability, except for battery replacement vs ice over time.

The reason I said the ev is perfect around town is for range charging.

Long trips is where a good riding vehicle is important. As a luxury vehicle an ev is not suited for trips as most will have limited range especially at night when running headlights/and or heat.

You can't fill up and keep going like an ice.

If Nissan better supported the leaf I would consider one as a drive to work vehicle.

I want one I can buy used for $2500. 😁

Animals are undoubtedly smarter than Most Humans.
Humans are inferior to a crow in so many ways. They can fly for fun they don’t need a Modele 3. Laughing at our airplanes crudeness, if they could laugh. Maybe they do privately.

It will be interesting to see what happens to EV sales if the Biden administration is ever able to push through their stimulus program (without all the irresponsible pork and socialist spending) and there are tax incentives in place again for EV purchases.

With those incentives and newer, less costly models on the horizon I think we could see several vehicles selling for under $30K. That would sure be a kick in the pants for bringing new EV owners into the marketplace.
