The Pontiac Aztek finally met its match

It took 20 years and finally Subaru has a worthy opponent to go head to head with the Aztek.

LOL!! Funny, though. I think this thing might be fun with a manual transmission.

Even funnier....I've seen two Aztecs this week and both were in immaculate shape. I couldn't help but chuckle.

I had this 97 legacy in white. I added 15” oem alloys off an Outback with 205/60-15 tires. The wheel tire combo absolutely transformed the rather conservative if not drab lines of the wagon to something very nicely proportioned. It was quite economical, extremely solid, a rocket in the snow, and proved reliable. It was a little underpowered with the 2.2L, but the 2.2 was a closed deck, solid engine that could be run hard all day. The shift feel … was interesting. It was stubborn back to me until I learned to listen to the feel and lighten the touch, and then it became very quick to shift. Oh, and I added a 1” spring spacer on the rears; these were known to sag. The ever so slight rake that came with that also improved the look. You can see in this picture, it looks tired…

No more manual for the crosstrek. What’s with those random yellow bits?
I was following an Outback yesterday that had those yellow items on it. I think they're designating where the tow hooks are.

Not sure why they're also on the roof though...

The Aztec looked like it was created by 3 different design teams, none of whom talked to each other, so the final design was cut and paste from all three. There is no continuity or symmetry in that design. It is an assault on the eye.

Just another vehicle which looks like it was designed from a CGI video game. The angular black plastic looks like a 10 year old Drew it.

The Aztec was ahead of it's time, ugly but more acceptable today then back when it was introduced. That subaru --cladding is terrible!

if I had my way and knew the engg manager and designer would like to kick them in the rear for producing such an ugly & hideous car at the expense of tax pay dollars (loosers went begging for handouts, why wouldn't they, runaway engg managers);
