The Pontiac Aztek finally met its match

No it's not Aztek level of ugly. This just looks like every other modern forgettable car. Slit eyes, bass mouth grill, weirdly angular.

No, that Azteck was a special *****. Talk about a car cobbled together with spare parts. It's like someone who never saw a car, but read about them. They got a bunch of random parts, and tried to make one.

Doesn't BITOG have a policy against posting graphic and obscene images? 🤮

Soobies have always been ugly, but it's their thing and from day one they've sold like crazy in most areas.

I owned 3 Subarus in a row, a 2012 Legacy, a 2014 Crosstrek and a 2016 Forester. Ugliness aside, I had my fill of Subaru. The factory low rolling resistance tires are so bad they make the factory AWD system near useless. You have to put much better tires or snow tires on them if you get snow. The HVAC systems in them is undersized/marginal as a fuel savings measure. They still get rusty faster than most make/models if you don't take precaution with yearly rust proofing and touching up areas. Front and/or rear subframes will rust to pieces, etc.

They are safe though. Talk to body shop people. The outer sheet metal is paper thin, but the structure underneath is very tough on Subarus. I actually got that notion from Trav on this site and asked a body shop I like about it some time ago. They confirmed.

Yeah, but does this Subaru Wilderness Edition have a rear tent option like the Aztek's?
One of the Aztek's colors was "Ticonderoga Yellow", matching that of the famous pencil.
The GM dealer in Ticonderoga, NY displayed it on the lot's feature mound.
No traveler on Rts. 9N and 22 could miss it.

Forgot how boxy the Aztek's panels were.

Scare up a picture of a 1995 Subaru Legacy LS wagon in navy blue. It ain't an ugly car.

The Crosstrek is a decent looking vehicle. That cladding really changed the appearance on this model and not for the better.
Agree about the cladding. The shape is pretty much the same as the regular Crosstrek that has been manufactured for a bunch of years by now.

To my eyes, a Prius always looks like an Aztek that was shrunk in the wash. Folks loved the Prius and hated the Aztec but it appears that Toyota copied much of what made an Aztec look like an Aztec, especially from the rear quarter view. Check out the distinctive second rear view window on the lift gate.

The Honda CRX had the smoked glass panel under the rear hatch to improve visibility, and that was a sharp car that only looks better with age.

The 2012 era Infiniti QX56 is on my ugly list. They couldn't figure out how to mix huge, aero, round, and square. Looks parts-binny.
