UP to $3 more? How many name brand synthetics are $3 less that Mobil 1. The hysteria keeps growing Bwahaaaaaa

BTW Why the shot at California and the price one pays for OJ? Also in reality the cost of an oil id miniscule when compared to the cost of the auto and most maintenance items. I just don't get it?

I'm kind of new here and need some help. Forget what's in the bottle. There appear to be uoa's on a lot of different oils used in different applications, right? Does Mobil 1 perform well enough to justify the price. I see that some versions of Amsoil are about as expensive, but it appears to do a good job. Same with other synthetic(?) oils, GIII or not. Is the increased traffic about Mobil 1, not about the performance but about the preception that what's in the bottle is not a good match for what's in the marketing? In the end you have to trust the company that makes the stuff because it is difficult to look back and see what they did to make the stuff. They won't tell because it cost a lot of money to come up with the stuff in the first place and there is a lot of competition out there. And even if they did, we, most of us would have difficulty evaluating all that information and comming up with something like an understanding. So is the issue honesty in marketing or is it just fun to load up and shoot at a large corporate target? (maybe I've got to stop drinking beer for lunch). Well, what do you think.

Turbo owners should have particular concern over the G-III content. If they expect an oil is PAO and it's not....uncool.

Exactly! That's what I have been wondering. I know that a few 9-5 owners have turned in great UOAs with RTS 5W40, but....what are the long term concerns. I told the folks on saabcentral they may want to consider arx maint. dosing....

I had been thinking of periodic flushes if I had to switch to group III, then that PzPlat/arx post was put up. Got the wheels turning. Speaking of oil deals, given the 2 for 1 deal and the FAR deal on SOPUS synths, yes, you can find cheaper synths that do just fine.

Don't you have some flowers to plant by the wheels of your "home"?

Aren't you overextended on that interest only payoption loan for your home? Must be the price of OJ & M1 & keeping up with the blinging Jones ...[/you]

With the barriers to entering this market, I wouldn't call it highly competitive in the least. We are talking about an oligopoly here. These firms rely heavily on bamboozling the customers through marketing and excessive levels of differentiation to capture market share.

I pay $7 a half-gallon for fresh squeezed OJ, so M1 isn't a big deal to me.

Did you realize that that OJ used to be 100% fresh-squeezed? Now it's only 15% fresh-squeezed, with the rest reconstituted Group III OJ??

No, Homer. You see, I've got 500+% equity in my home with 24/30 years passed. 4.9% fixed loan.
401k that is already good enough for a nice retirement and a savings/stock portfolio equally well set.

So, as I said, get the pink Flamingos, the mirrored balls, and plastic flowers setup - I hear y'all got a cold winter coming.
