After my 2nd one, I’ve finally got it out of my system.

I loved that car. It drove brilliantly. Couldn’t really ask for anything more as far as driving experience. It was insanely comfortable. Amazing suspension. Super quiet. Really nice pep in its step with that 3.3L twin-turbo, 87 octane, and 4,500lb curb weight. Fantastic A/C (when it worked). Almost 117k miles.

But that was the last straw, I took it into the dealer in June because the A/C been acting up this summer and it randomly gets warm, usually at lower RPMs. It got a new compressor last summer. So summer of 2023 and 2024 was flawless A/C performance, but this year it randomly gets warm until I either get moving again from a red light, or traffic lets up and my speed is high enough for some good RPMs. The dealership recharged the A/C and it was 2oz low, that didn’t really help much. I took it back this past Monday and told them to drive it, so their master tech drove it home for 2 days, I sent them videos of the thermometer fluctuating and they sent it to Genesis corporate for tech support, and they say it’s normal because it’s hot here in Phoenix. I know it’s bologna, it was fine for 2 years prior and it does the same thing in the morning when it’s only 85* out. The big issue is the warranty I bought, the salesman had lied and told me I could take it anywhere for repairs. Turns out I can only take it to the selling dealer 30 miles away. I’m tired. It’s 118* outside. I’m fed up.

So off it went to CarMax. Got absolutely hosed on the trade-in value, these cars absolutely do NOT hold their value at all. Going to get something more simple and reliable. Not sure what yet. Glad I sold it before the value tanked, next year would have been even rougher.

No I don’t park like that, it was just for a dealership I texted for an appraisal.

Thanks for the update and the details behind the trade in. At least a few of us were closely tracking your ownership experience and commentary on your Genesis.

Have you thought about a Crown Vic? I hear they're in vogue.

Well, all good things come to an end, and as you say, hopefully it's out of your system. Just don't do what I did and get a Corolla.

That was always the big selling point of H/K was you got alot of car for your money up front but the resale was comparable to a Yugo GVX. I had 199930 miles on my RB Accent Hatchback 1.6 and got $2000 only because of the condition and piles of maintenance records.
You live, you learn. Try having a Corvette in Casper Wyoming during the winter 🤣🤣. Nice looking red car though!

Those seem rare where I'm at.
I only see one once every few weeks. Only ever seen a Sport 3.3T a couple times. Only once saw a red one (red is pretty rare).
Sorry to hear.

Since you're a sedan guy -------> Lucid. Theoretically simpler.
Oh no I’m not in that tax bracket 🤣
Was this a Hyundai warranty or 3rd party?
3rd party, purchased through the dealer at purchase. They weren’t that bad, but with a funky issue like this that the issue isn’t cut and dry, it just sucks.

Ha, not my cup of tea either way. I can’t handle a penalty box though.
If you were unhappy with it then you made the right decision.

What are you buying for replacement ?
Still deciding that. Most likely used Japanese sedan. Something more tame.

Can’t believe I forgot to mention the list of repairs it had since ownership at 83k miles, and the grand total the warranty paid out.

Oil pressure switch
Fuel pump
2 injectors
Windshield washer pump
A/C compressor
Expansion valve
Condenser
Water pump
LH side oil control valve
Sunroof rubber hinge shoes

The warranty company gets a discount on repairs, but their grand total payout was around $8,200. Not including the tow truck bill for the water pump.

BMW's were getting bad rep bcs. electric pumps were dying between 100-120k.
$8,200? Get yourself BMW M3 CSL and save some money.
