You're just another guy that leased a Maserati, or a another sucker that bought one off lease.
performance is good but relatively speaking not at all astounding.
The regular Ghibli is no quicker to 60 than a 2 liter Honda accord - 5.5

a lot of dealers were giving them away for like $700/36 a while back. compared to an optioned out 5 series it’s still a tough choice
the ghibli isn’t a bad car but it’s horribly dated at this point and slow as molasses. the old quattroporte with an automatic is timeless and a pretty good car for what it is.

Not true, I got on the highway and accelerated to about 85mph, a driver on my inside was doing about 90mph in a Camaro, a PURPLE Ghibli in the fast lane was so fast he was at the next exit, more than 1.5 miles away in a heartbeat. I like them period full stop, the same dealer has used Shelby for 60k.
I brought a ‘14 SQ4 used April 2019. I thought it was the best and coolest car ever. $35k for a $85k low mileage late model “Ferrari powered” car that sounded nice.
then I traded it in for a base Toyota Tacoma and realized the ghibli is a crappy car that cost way too much. My Tacoma is better. Why? The headunit doesn’t freeze up. The windows always go up and down. The alarm doesn’t go off by itself. The transmission doesn’t jerk when it’s cold/wet out.
the ghibli is like a Dodge Avenger with high end leather. It sounds great but that’s it. It doesn’t drive like a sports car - it drives like a luxury sedan. But not a good one either because the E-Class drives better. It also wasn’t designed to be driven every day because my LCA bushings were shot by 45k miles.
I did 10k miles owned for 1.5 years, took $11k depreciation and $2000 in maintenance. Wasn’t worth it at all. I think for the money I would have enjoyed a E550/E63AMG or 550i much more. Better tech, faster, easier to service, and most likely cheaper to fix.
plus maseratis have been getting so cheap it’s not a “status” car anymore(IMO, not worth the Ferrari maintenance prices). Just about anybody can afford one. I see more maseratis in the bad part of town then I do in the nice parts.
oh and also, Maserati modules are pretty hard to communicate with. The Ferrari scanners can’t talk to them. You specifically need a Maserati computer, which most shops won’t have. So you take it to the dealer, and then even they can’t figure it out because they don’t get much guidance from Maserati in Italy either. I had another ‘14 come in with a bad center diff.

Reading this again reminded me of yrs ago or so, when the then dealer owner (Chrysler) bought a new high line quattroporte with the v8. He let me take it for a spin, nice enough car and sounded SWEET with the exhaust set in sport. That said I was kind of surprised how much of all the switch gear, center screen, etc u could tell was plain old Mopar. I never said anything....little while later one of the more unfiltered techs was giving him the gears about all the cheap Chrysler bits

Sister just bought a new Levante. She was going to buy a Tesla, but didn't think it looked as good as the Maserati. She bought with her eyes as a lot of people do. In fairness it is a very nice looking car.
Sure, although this might be a little more than a typical backyard mechanic would want to get involved in. Especially if they are used to more common cars.
Looks like a job for my MityVac...
An expensive Chrysler is still a Chrysler.
