I drive 1000 miles a week all stop and go, lots of idling, taxi and delivery. So I'm changing oil every month and it is an expense, I can find oil on sale but don't know which bargain brand is the best, I've been using STP and so far so good but if there's a better one for the same price, I'm willing to try it out.

I know fleetfilter.com used to be a big site here.... they sell wix filters at a good discount. If I were you, I would just check rockauto.com every couple of months and order a few of their better clearance filters. They currently have some M1 filters, along with the hastings and some of the Purolators on clearance for $1.50.
I would stay away from the Prurolators, but anything hastings, M1, or Wix made (like Protec) are probably better than the STP filters you're using.
Other option you have is just doing the monthly OC specials at AAP or AZ every month. I'm a AAP fan myself, since I recently bought their stock and their company is being added to the S&P 500 index.

There was a clearance a while back on rockauto of Wix 3614 crosses that probably fit your 'yota, they were about $1.20 or $1.50 shipped. I'd keep an eye on them and amazon.

Edit, they have hastings LF157s, a 3614 cross, for $1.18 ea. If your filter base takes the slightly bigger gasket, if you've ever tried, give these a shot.

Oil- Supertech (Wal-Mart)
NAPA, when it's on sale
are cheap...

Filter-
Hard to beat the STP filter.
A step up would be Purolator PureOne (yellow can)

A lot of times an oversized (longer) filter exists,
I use a 7317 instead of a 6607...
And 3600 instead of a 3614

Watch out, the super cheap filters often default to the smaller size,
DriveWorks uses the same filter for 6607 and 7317 applications,
but it's the shorter 6607 size....

IMO....the best cheap oil filter, if you can find them on sale, are the Fram High Mileage oil filters.

A couple of years ago, they were on clearance, at Summitt Racing for $1.25 a filter. I bought 2 cases of filters for neighbor's vehicles and they have held up, mighty fine, for their NYC stop and go, short trip driving. I wish I could find them again on clearance.....they are a very good OF.

How much do Fram Ultras cost in your area? Can you find them cheap? Pick up two and use the rebate on Fram's website to get $2 back on each one. They're good for 15k miles, so use them for three months and you should have about 12k-15k miles on them.

Menards has good deals if you have a use for in-store credit MIR. Meijer store-brand is pretty reasonable even without sale pricing. I have heard Wal-Mart has some economic options as well but I don't shop there.

As far as choices, most big name oils with API rating will suffice- if you want to be picky go for something with dexos cert.

I routinely do see QS branded oil filters at Menards for 1.99 during sales.

I agree. Buying a jobber only to change it every few weeks or so seems like a lot of work to me.

Impressive miles you rack up in a short time. How about setting up an account at your local auto parts store to buy oil and filters in bulk? Taking my local napa for example. They will try to cut special deals if you buy the same stuff over and over.

I agree. Also I see see the NAPA Silvers on sale at $2.54. I believe the STP's are Ecores and I would stay clear of them.

This right here. I get Master Packs of Napa Proselects for about $1.39/filter for all of my vehicles.

Buy a good filter (Fram Ultra, Mobil-1) and run it for 2 OCIs.

As you're motoring about, you'll have the peace of mind of stout construction, and filtering, rather than something that is built barely to go 5k miles.

Even cheaper, run them three OCI's...that's still within their intended use.

This...

Slam dunk here.

Look for a better filter and use it 2 or three oci's I like Wix And The fram Ultra also seems to be a decent filter that can be used for more than one oci.
