reaction is what you might expect, he doesn't care a bit and says it's his right to do so.

Sorry, I tried to watch the clip and couldn't get past "trolling community". Man, everyone has a community these days...

Seriously, it's just the internet. Why people get upset about internet trolling is beyond me.

What shocked me is the BBC reporters claim that "people have gone to prison for less" than being an internet troll.

What's going on over there?

Not every country has the freedom of speech we are used to. You can get jail time in Britain and Germany (to name a couple of countries) for racist/offensive comments.

Keyboard courage...see it often...pretty rare on BITOG though, part of why I spend my time here...

I have stood up to bullies in person, quite a few times, interesting to watch the response when confronted squarely by someone else who is clearly not intimidated by the bluster...

And this guy is a prime example as to why boards like BITOG have rules, which are enforced on a daily basis...

Think about that the next time that someone starts complaining about the management around here.

Heck they don't even have to be racist. They just have to have enough of a hint of racism for someone to take offense and they you can be convicted of inciting racial hatred or some other such nonsense.

Recently in one of the Scandinavian countries (can't remember which), some people in a little town that had seen a huge influx of immigrants (mostly Muslim and mostly from areas like Somalia or other such 3rd world countries) formed a facebook group to discuss the matter. The influx of immigrants had brought with it an increase in crime (thefts, assaults, rapes).

The gov't rounded up around 5 of them and charged them with inciting racial violence because they had the audacity to suggest that the immigrants were the root of the sudden increase in crime (they were) and that some sort of practical solution must be reached to solve this.

I suppose that it is a "crime" now to for whites to desire a homogenous nation? Fancy that.

With you living in California (according to your profile) you ought to know the answer to that is an affirmative.

Here's a fun observational game for you to play.

When you see news stories about a crime being committed, particularly something egregious or violent, pay attention to how race is handled by the media source. If the suspect is white, the news story will make that known right up front either via a direct mention of it within the first 1/4 of the story or by including a picture of the suspect.

If race is conspicuously absent from the news story, particularly if its painfully obvious they have gone out of their way to avoid mentioning race... well you get the idea.

Example:

A few months ago we had a fatal shooting at a gas station in my city. Within a couple of hours the cops had the shooter and one of two accomplices in custody. The next day there was only a mention bare details of the case with no names involved. The following day a more detailed piece was in the paper. Still no mention of race or pictures of the suspects despite the fact that the booking photos were available on the website of the county jail. One of the accomplices was still at large and other than a name, no physical description was given.

Contrast this to a few weeks ago when we had a very well thought out bank robbery involving a stolen getaway vehicle taken the night before the robbery and a bomb threat called into one of the local schools to distract/tie up the cops 30 min before the robbery took place. It took about 2 weeks, but the cops managed to find the suspect and accomplice. The next day the paper read to the effect, "Mike Smith, a 30 year old white male, and Jane Jones, and 28 year old white female have been arrested in connection with the robbery of Acme Savings and Loan," and included the booking photos from the county jail.

Dude... we agree on more things than we will ever realize...

We just seem to find the things that we *don't* agree on more often.

Don't forget Canada. They surrendered their freedom of speech a few years ago.

You should provide details. Why was it given up so easily?

The Canadian Human rights tribunal has imprisoned citizens for not having the 'right' opinion. Ooops.
