Just got home from a 95 mile round trip with a neighbor, to have Thanksgiving Lunch. We rode in style in his 1929 Model A Roadster pickup.

And yes, that's a modern Ford pickup parked next to it, at least 3x as big, LOL. It's a gorgeous sunny day. 50 degrees and light wind.

Note that the back of the bed of the Model A is pretty much even with the back of the cab of the Super Duty...

Wow, that's an awesome survivor. Does your neighbor have an interesting story to go along with it? Has he done alot of work to fix it up, or did he mostly buy it that way? Has he owned it for a long time? What type of oil does he run, and what's his OCI, LOL?

That is very cool, and a great looking truck.

I rebuilt the engine in one quite similar to that, about 40 years ago. Enjoyed driving it a bit to make sure the engine worked well. The reason for the rebuild was that one of the cylinders had a groove/score that was 1/4 inch wide and an 1/8 inch deep. It ran pretty well at speed, despite that.

The guy who owns this is a retired heavy construction equipment mechanic. He's only had this truck completely apart and back together about 3 times already. Engine has been rebuilt, transmission is new and is a synchronized unit. He drives it 6000-7000 miles a year.

They did not need a truck for a daily driver in 1929 - they never had anything in the back and could have driven a Corolla …

Any other updates? Hydraulic brakes, better electrics? How fast were you traveling? What was it like smelling its exhaust?
