On Havolines website they list under the why Havoline tab various API SN qualification tests (listed below) and in a nice turn of honesty they list by what % they meet or exceed the standard API base. I just feel this is refreshingly honest and gives you a real idea of what you can expect instead of the typical stupid "nothing works better" statement that everyone always uses that's so meaningless. What's my point just giving props to Havoline for what I feel is a solid statement of performance and I wanted to share with anyone who hasn't seen it.

Corrosion Protection astm D6557 30% more
Wear protection Sequence IVA astm D6891 10% better
Viscosity protection Sequence IIIG 10% better
Wear in extremely conditions Sequence IIiG 25% better
Sludge resistance D6593 85% better

Thanks for the links.
Every oil has to pass standards, but, how isbthe competition, compsred to Havoline, just 10% better in viscosity retention? Amzoil?

Totally. Just being willing to put your number up and stand behind it for what you charge now that's testing I think we could all get behind. What if you had to report how your formulation in its current configuration performed against the standard? I know it's never going to happen but until then it's all pretty much a joke. the marketing is ultimately unsatisfactory to me. "Unserpased". A legal rearm that says if 100 is the target and everyone hits 100 than everyone is equal to each other and no one can claim surpassing another. The truth is there is surpassing by x amount and its nice when someone says what x is.

Under rated oil for sure. Came within a hair of buying the high mileage oil last go around, but I am going to buy some next round if I can find a good sale on it.

Just posted today by PQIA Havoline 5w-20. Havoline PDS of 7.4 TBN for the 5w-20 matches the PQIA data.

and noack of 13.2 isn't bad for a standard oil.

Thats what I'm talking about. show the standard and show us how much it exceeds in straight %..... I'm on board. I am going to go as far as to say I will buy a round of Havoline for my Avalon and Altima next time just to show a little support.

Yes, positive consumer pressure. You play it straight with us, and we will support and trust your products more.

100%, otherwise we just have people making crazy statements that don't mean anything. We all know they all have this data and know exactly how their formulation stacks up against the industry standards..... If you want to claim Dexos 1 than show us the additional Dexos 1 tests and the % by witch your product meets or exceeds the standard. Its a shame there are so many people who just don't care but I guess thats why we are all here.

I just emailed Chevron and expressed my positive experience with their website and the data they presented. I asked that they make every API SN oil test and its respective data for performance available and that I would share it here if they did. It will be interesting to see if they respond.
