Test drove used Miata. Not impressed.

That's what I've decided. Time to finally make good on that Subaru installation I've been quasi-planning for a few years.

You mean, putting a Subaru H4 into a VW Bug? I've never heard of that, but it seems logical for people who want to keep their Bugs alive.
A Bugaru?
A Subawagen?

It's fairly common, actually. Sort of like how an LS swap is the go-to for so many longitudinal RWD platforms.

The people that designed the Corvair specifically studied the Beetle, the Czech Tata, and the Porsches when coming up with the design. If you get one with a 4 speed and do the upgrades on the motor you can get about 190 horsepower while still being trouble free. Biggest issue with them is the awkward fan belt. Always a good idea to keep a spare and the tools with you.

I don't know what I was expecting. The way people who own Miatas go on about them, I guess I thought the experience would be amazing, or something. But, it was just a car. Even if I freshened it up, I doubt I'd have ever developed any sort of affection for it.

Not dumping on all Miatas, just saying I felt let down.

I assume you saw this, and got your hopes a little too high?
