I liked the 2nd generation better than the first. 2nd genration was larger and better styling. I think the 3rd generation is more similar, size, styling etc to the 2nd than the 1st.

Umm.. that's not necessarily a bad idea. Dealer warranty typically is closer to bumper-to-bumper coverage than any aftermarket warranty. Too many horror stories with these aftermarket warranty companies.
Can't buy Mazda warranty online somewhere? Dealers mark those things up usually 100%. It is not pretty. Call a dealer and inquire about a Ford warranty then go online to Ford and look at the price difference. Usually 90% cheaper direct. Gotta pad the F&I guy's pocket too...stealers, ugh.

. I liked the 6 better when it was being made in the US. It was a nice car then, but I don't remember the media praising it much. At least not to the degree they are now.

The fact that the 2014 Mazda 6 isn't being made in the US has very little to do with the media attention and praise it is receiving.

The fact that Mazda is able to fully design the car to their specs, without any input from Ford anymore, is truly the reason why the car is getting all the media attention.

So, in a way, removing the American's from the design and production of the Mazda 6, while a small factor, isn't the only reason why it's making waves.

Hopefully, the car buyers out there will like it just as much as the media does.

I don't buy that. Mazda was able to design the Mazda6 to their own spec. It was Mazda's platform and quite different and drove different from the Fusion. It's the Ford Fusion that was most changed by Mazda leaving if anything. The media mostly ignored the Mazda6 and hyped Accords and Camrys until lately.

Update: Talked to the dealer that's 90 minutes away who is offering the good deal on the new 6. I asked a lot of questions and said politely how if I am 2 hours away, I want to make sure all numbers are run correctly.

After talking to the sales manager he told me how they can do more with a VW trade since they are also a VW dealer. So the $17,500 for the trade and $19,500 for the car is legit.

They said unless something is truly wrong with my Tiguan they can't see such a new car to get a lower trade. Taxes are low ($221) since so much is covered from the trade.

A drive like this better be worth it.

it will be wife's primary car. I hope she will be happy with it - she test drove it about 3 times and compared with others which we also test drove and she was happy with it every single time, (except that the arm rests seem a bit weird/out of place and rather skinny - but not a deal breaker)
the decision process took long time...but i research slow...

Well it looks like the dealership isn't kidding.

$19,495 for the car.
$17,500 for the trade.

Looks like I am going to do this. Lotsa car in the I Sport trim.

Oh this is it:

Tough to find a manual let alone a color I want. White or Silver are the only two options. I am more for the Liquid Silver since it hides that dirt better, lol.

The factory tint seems rather dark, don't you think?

LOL this would be my first Mazda. The only one in recent years where I liked the looks of it.

First Japanese car since my 95 Galant! And this car is pretty much all Japanese.

It looks like it sits pretty high up, judging by the wheel gap, or is it just the camera angle in the pic? Does the Sport trim include sport suspension or is it mainly an appearance package? It could use a drop.

The Mazda 6 should be available in any color you want in the manual transmission, unlike the CX-5, which you can only get in Black, Grey, or Silver.

I know way more about Mazda's and what all you can build one with in the US than I ever really wanted to know, to tell the truth.

I've seen jet black, meteor gray, and blue reflex in dealer inventories near me as well.
