Teslas are becoming the new Camrys.

Of course it does when you live at Tesla ground zero. Not so much in much of the rest of the universe. For instance there are 3 Superchargers shown in my area with a population of over 200,000. Other chargers as well but you said Superchargers.
You need Superchargers when you are on the road. I would not own an EV if I couldn't charge at home.
But you have a point; Supercharger availability is location dependent.

Legit question... have you ever used the frunk? I use it very rarely. The lack of motorized open/close ruins it. The front area of the car is often dirty with dead bugs...

I use it all the time. Has the Mobile Connecter with 3 plug types. Just kidding...
I have almost never needed the extra space, with very few exceptions. I think it was some Costco stuff?

My electric rate is 7.5 cents per kWh here in Georgia. So for me it's less than 2 cents a mile to own one of these. We do get charged an annual fee of $240. Which means if you drive 12,000 miles a year. You're looking at an extra 2 cents per mile.
Heck I'd pay $240 a year to get 7.5 cent electricity, car or no car! 😁

What they have around your home is irrelevant, because you'll charge at home.

What they have on the road where you're going on a long trip, is what is relevant.

I would not want a non-refresh model. They're much nicer. Don't care what the older ones cost.
The '24 refresh is a better car, no doubt. It's all about one's budget. I do miss our '18 Mid Range, which I traded in when we got the new car. I should have passed it on to friends/family. Tesla was trying to make the quarter in late June 2024; they offered me good money so I just let it go.

Well the cheapest Camry is $29K new vs what - $39K for model 3? Not sure if I should laugh or cry.

What's the cheapest model 3 you have seen? When they get cheap enough (beater junk cheap) I'll be trying one.

29K on the website or 29K on the window sticker at the dealer?

Toyotas are almost have ADM on them. This might not completely close the gap - but it's tighter than what the window stickers suggest.

I'm not a Musk fan at all, but the folks that engineered those two cars did what no other Western legacy automaker could do.

Indeed. Lots of bright folks, less bureaucracy than a legacy OEM, but very much run from the top down, for better and worse. But they get worked to the bone, and get no EPP perks as far as the vehicles go, so personal driveways aren't occupied by "company" cars unless one drives one as part of their work.

This is old news. Model 3's have been the Camry's of Silicon Valley for the last 5-7 years.

It's supplanted an entry-level German as the new "uniform" or "keep up with the neighbors" car. Camrys are popular, but have no luxury aspirations. One could even question Tesla's standing in that respect as a whole, but the mob will believe what it believes.

The Model 3 seems quite a bit smaller than a Camry. And lower to the ground, I just finished with a 7+ day rental on a 2026 Camry yesterday, and I recently went to lunch in my co-worker's 2025 Model 3.

I easily got 6 bags in the trunk of the Camry including one 30" suitcase without forcing anything. Can the Model 3 do the same? Not sure....

Doing some quick web searching indicates that they are both in the same EPA interior classification as a midsize. But that still could be up to a 19.9% difference as the midsize category goes from 100 to 119.9 cubic feet.

Seat up, the M3's boot might hold two 30" class suitcases, if there is nothing else inside. If there is, or the owner doesn't clear it out, one of them is going in the back seat.

Source--have taken multiple rides to airport in one.

No right thinking person is going to buy a scalpel when they need a machete, but for whatever reason, people insist on talking like they do.

That may have been true when the S came out, but when the 3 came out, the ease of use and no-gas made them sell like hot cakes around here. They became the new Camry because they made so much sense. It did replace the entry level German cars because owners got tired of all their car's downtime.

The Model 3 has been one of the top sellers in CA and is to this day. There's a reason for it.

I’d say it’s also the best road trip car as long as you aren’t bringing a ton of stuff. Driving from SF to LA and back was so easy!

Sure there is a reason for it, the enviro whack jobs are a major part of the population, highest fuel prices in the country, etc. Musk should try his hand at making bicycles, I am sure there is a design or two he can pirate. They will sell like hot cakes in crispy CA. JMO

He's too busy running the most valuable car company, by far, in the world.
And SpaceX, exploring outer space with his aerospace manufacturing company.
And xAI, which you may know as Grok, developing AI tools.
And Neuralink, my personal favorite, the neurotechnology company aiming to restore motor functions in paralyzed individuals.

Of course there's more. Not my opinion; reality. I hope this helps...
