Tesla Stock

i have no idea if there something else holding back sales in a South Korea, but last month Tesla sold only one vehicle? Im surprised this didnt have any effect on stock price

Not sure about SK but Elon is positioning Tesla to make a very strong entry to the Russian market in the near future.

Before the special military operation, Elon was considering building a factory in Russia. It doesn't appear these plans have been abandoned.

I wouldn't even be surprised if Tesla enters a joint venture with Aurus Motors to develop the next generation state limo. Of course a genius like Elon would be personally involved in fulfilling the technical requirements for this new vehicle, and there would be no greater honor than to receive this task.

Once the sanctions are lifted of course. The stock would be mooning.

I was meeting with my financial advisor today. He's very knowledgeable and trustworthy. Works for a supermajor investment company; everybody here would recognize. Well he is bullish on tech companies with Tesla being top on his list. His view is that Elon is a genius and is guiding the company to become way more than a car maker. So on his recomendation I bought a boatload of Tesla stock. It pains me to admit this move as most of you know my feelings about this automotive evolution.

Did I do the right thing or should I have stayed true to my instincts?

Right now Musk doesn't seem to have any leadership skills, and the little he does have is cranking out dumpster fires like the cybertruck. The entire factory in Mexico has been put on hold. This morning he made snide comments about Lucid on X about how the Saudi Fund aka their sugar daddy is keeping them afloat when he himself wanted to sell a chunk of Tesla to them. It'll be interesting to see if Musk keeps up his antics and gets the boot or not. This will be a big deciding factor.

I am not sure that is a con. Sure, margins suffer, but gain in economies of scale. Profits gain if sales continue to increase. The lower prices put pressure on the already strapped competition. Remember, Tesla is the only company who makes money on EVs.

Tesla is going for full factory utilization and increased market domination. Cash flow is everything in business.
Fiat already said that the 500e will be making them profit on every sale. Two the first batch of 500e's from my understanding are sold out and the assembly line in Italy is already cranking out us spec versions. GM has stated that by May /June of this year they'll be profitable across their EV lineup. Musk is getting ever more erratic behavior with less focus. Remember Sears, and Beatrice were two of the largest companies in the world where are they now? Sanyo was the largest manufacturer of giant digital displays in the world valued in the tens of billions if not more where are they now. Elon musk has said previously that six or more projects were sidelined due to the Cybertruck.

No small comfort. I've lost enough of my investment to probably buy a Tesla3 at least. Maybe I should have just bought the car instead. On the Tesla carousel and its an interesting ride.

c'est la vie

I shoulda bought stock in Dec 2018 (about $23) instead of the car... Of course Tesla was gonna be belly up any day now. Sheesh...

Should I bet on the self made richest man in the world and arguably smartest and most high tech industrialist also, or a person with an axe to grind against him? Hmmm, tough decision.
I think his spending a large sum to be able to kick government propaganda purveyors off of Twitter and restoring the First Ammendment might tip the scales in his favor. In the interest of full disclosure, I do have about 1% of my stock portfolio in TSLA.

The answer is.... Numbers matter! Every other car company in the world is chasing Tesla.

Not so sure I agree with the twitter stuff, but that's another story. SpaceX and especially Neuralink are my favorites!

X is still a dumpster fire, maybe even more so now when they let people say pretty anything, including beliefs in conspiracy theories. 😄 Too bad BITOG didn't have any rules on what someone could say, buy maybe Elon will buy it. 😜

Least I be misunderstood, I don't think Twitter was a prudent purchase by Mr. Musk. IMO he overpaid for a dumpster fire of a company with a padded payroll that was headed towards bankruptcy. I'm not sure he has the bandwidth to make it pay off at the price he paid, but if anyone can it would be him.

^^^ Elon might be an engineering genius, but seems not so much an investment/financial genius. Of course, how you run any company can be the difference between being very successful, or its disaster to failure.

Hes one of eth richest men in eth world, so I think its hard to say he inst an investment or financial genius.

He sure doesn't have a 100% track record though.

Sure, but if he made some better decisions he'd probably be even richer than he is now, and also ensure that continues into the future. That is what I was getting at. And sure, not everyone can make the right decisions 100% of the time. Hind sight is 20/20 as they saying goes.

If he made better decisions, and or just kept his mouth shut.

Hes one of the dumber genius billionair businessmen when it comes to his mouth.

When's the last time you saw Larry Ellisons mouth get him into trouble?

Tesla is about 1.3% of every S&P 500 ETF / fund - so most people don't know it but 1% of their portfolio is in Tesla also :ROFLMAO:

I am guessing you already knew that - just wondering if everyone does.
Nah, I didn't know that. ETFs and mutual funds are like sausage makers to me. I don't want to know what goes into it. That way I can pretend that my holdings in Contrafund, Berkshire Hathaway, S&P 500 ETF and Fidelity Information Tech ETF are diversified.
