Tesla officially exhausts Cybertruck Reservation list

As much as i hate to see those those "Dumpsters on Wheels", I am seeing more of them in the 'burbs. I point and Laugh Hysterically. Just Sayin'

in the last couple of months, just driving around the greater Seattle/eastside area, i have seen many Cybertrucks with temp plates on them . they used to rare to see, but plenty of them in my area now.

How much did these people pay for the reservations in the first place? Do you get your money back if you don't buy?

A guy I know had so many problems with his Rivian truck, he eventually had to have it bought back under the lemon law. Last time I talked to him he was considering the Cybertruck.
I'd go with a new Rivian over a Cybertruck. I'd bet Rivian would throw in some extras to keep the guy as a customer. Not saying that every Cybertruck has issues but from lots of reports it sounds like unless you have a YouTube channel or are on a Tesla board, or complain to Musk directly on X good luck getting your Cybertruck fixed. Tesla has already recalled the Cybertruck 5 times in 10 months which isn't exactly the greatest record so far.

From reading initially it was a $100 refundable deposit. I think Tesla at some point raised the deposit amount, then made it non-refundable for a brief period. I'd still really like to see concrete evidence that 2 million people actually had a deposit, not take Musks word for it.

The Cyber Truck could become the next Edsel, a big mistake for Tesla. People with more money than brains should consider buying one and parking it somewhere for a few decades. It could become valuable. ;)

Have Edsels ever really appreciated? The weird thing according to Jay Leno is that in 1957 Ford sold 5 to 1 against the 57 Chevy. The weird thing is that I haven't seen a 57 Ford in years. After the "we robot " snafu it'll be interesting to see where Tesla puts their money.

Good point, but in all fairness I picked my words carefully. I did say people with more money than brains, and used the word "could" become more valuable. There are a lot of people with more money than brains imo.

A friend of mine put a deposit on one. He would have gotten one at the original price, but not at $100k. So he canceled his reservation and got his money back, no questions asked. I forget how much he had to put down.

My dad owned the last model edsel, so I guess 1960. He bought it a couple years old pretty cheap apparently. He said it was a great car - by that time all the issues had been ironed out. But the name was too damaged.

One thing I can guarantee is whatever he paid then, inflation adjusted it must have been a tiny fraction of $100K today since my dad was never rich and never flashy.

Here's my post about the Cybertruck I drove back in March. I liked it.

In the pictures there's a house with solar panels on the roof. He is the guy who had a Rivian truck which had so many problems, he eventually had to fight to get Rivian to buy it back under the Lemon Law. At this point he is seriously considering the Cybertruck.

The guy who owns the Cybertruck is still happy with it.

My cousins nephew took delivery of his Cybertruck, last Friday. It gets up to it's restricted speed of 114 mph (supposed to be 112) mph pretty quickly.

EVERYONE stares and whips out their phone to take pics or video.

I drove it a bit. It's pretty cool. If you can stand being the center of attention everywhere you go.

I’m sure it will be so much better, but to be fair the only failures I’m hearing common with the Cybertruck is the windshield wiper breaking and the front compartment allowing water get into the modules and insulation padding.

Apparently using the washer fluid flows down into this panel behind the front trunk and below the cowl. Maybe these modules are sealed well and it doesn’t matter though.

All Cybertrucks recalled for the glued-on stainless paneling falling off… Reminder, the “exoskeleton” claims were all lies, as we’ve known for a while.

The recall population includes all Model Year (“MY”) 2024 and 2025 Cybertruck vehicles manufactured from November 13, 2023, to February 27, 2025.
“The company confirmed that it added up to 46,096 Cybertrucks, which represent all Cybertrucks in the US.” - Electrek

These numbers seem to confirm they’ve only MADE just a tad over 3,000 a month since production started.

I've seen only two Cybertrucks on the road. More Rivian R1T pickups are around out my way than are Cybertrucks.
Think I saw 4 CT just yesterday, could have been 5 though. They are showing up a good bit more around here but most are being wrapped.

None locally for me in rural Ontario, but when I go to an expensive ski area we'll see a few among the multitude of EV's.
I do see more Rivian SUV's which kind of makes sense at a ski area more than a pickup.
I assume we'll see a more conventional looking cybertruck or SUV version sooner than later. I read its not a bad vehicle but the looks are too much for lots of potential buyers.

My opinion only: if CT's shape and design is useful we would have seen it in regular pickup and cars by now. Most cars weren't build in that shape with stainless steel means it is not really something most people want to begin with.

I don't think @walterjay
Was bothered by your choice of words.
