Tesla Model Y LR Electricity Costs vs. Gas

Couple points... Tesla has proven to know how to build cars faster and lower cost than other car makers. Their lofty margins, like 27 to 30% or even better) is leverage. If they chose to do so, they could cut prices, still make a profit, and put a choke hold on the competition. Musk has said he will only make the $25K car if it meets Tesla's margin requirements.
Compare that to GM, Ford, BMW, etc who lose money on some or even every EV they sell. Unless they get better, far better, their EV business just migh put them outta business.

Business is a numbers game; it's just arithmetic. I know you like numbers. These are the numbers.
*LOL* Numbers = that is why I am having a specialist insert up to 4 wires through my veins into my heart, stimulate my heart, track the impulses on monitors and then zap the short circuit that hopefully they find on the heart muscle with microwaves to kill the tissue where the "short" is.
Because the numbers say roughly 98.5 to 99% safe for the procedure vs roughly 2.5 to 3% or 4% dangerous or deadly side effect such as sudden cardiac death for the drug I am taking for something that is off script for my condition!
NUMBERS, yup, that is me. I told them I want it done vs the drug they have me taking, they said ok.. :(Have a good day.

It's actually about 5-6% more expensive than that since the efficiency of 240v is around 94-95% so 5-6% is lost which means more energy usage in pulling from the wall to put it in the battery. If it's 120v then it's worse since it's much less efficient at around 85%. When you pull 1kw from the wall with 240v you're only putting in about 945ish watt hours. With 120v it's 850ish watt hours but that isn't taken into account with the consumption.

All the best to you @alarmguy . I am rooting for you and those wonderful doctors to fix you right up. You have a lotta living and work to do! And we need you here.

Good luck on the procedure. Having worked in pharmacy I can say your decision is a good one. Our hospital pharmacy stopped carrying Flecainide a long long time ago.

They can do a lot of things these days that weren’t available even ten years ago.

As long as it comes to market in time and stays in production unlike the Roadster v2, 39K model Y, $35K M3, FSD final release, Robotaxis, AI bot, and Hyperloop, I think this will put push ICE out of the system.

This is key, we are in two different camps.
Driving an SUV I and I think many Americans will care less going from 3 to 60 in 7.1 seconds vs the Y in 3.3 at a cost of over $20,000 more for the Y, never mind the possible inconvenience of fueling the Y

Im not debating the performance
Inconvenience? I have the equivalent of a gas station in my own garage! How convenient is that?
$20K more? If I were to finance that, I would STILL save more per month than the note increase...and get the convenience of a "gas station" in my own garage plus that performance perk...

The build quality also explains their margins. I personally think the Kia/Hyundai GMP twins are a far better vehicle.

I know this may not be the most precise, but I just compare my current monthly billing to my previous year's monthly billing, and if the temperature delta is more than 2*f off, I throw the data out. This is dirty and all that, but FUNCTIONALLY, it is the best way. I am paying $75/mo more having an EV than not having an EV, for my electricity. My previous vehicle was an Acura RDX that averaged 24.2mpg and cost me $450/mo roughly in fuel at today's prices. More previously.

I personally would opt for procedure over cardiac meds, if offered the odds mentioned. Good luck with, Alarmguy!

Thanks for your comment, REALLY appreciate it, its actually good to hear. Maybe Ill start a thread when I have time, feel bad about side tracking this thread.
Yeah, its kind of ironic the way the cardiac electrophysiologist described it. My heart is in such good shape it can handle the drug *LOL* but ablation is also an option and for some the only option, left it up to me, said try the drug for couple months and on follow up I can schedule the ablation. I scheduled the ablation simply because I read up on this drug and as you confirm its dangerous and not only that, but feel a bit of pressure if I don't do it now, next year I will have all new doctors moving to another state and have to start the whole testing thing all over.

For the others who read this PVC's occur in about 50% of the population to different degrees. Ill start a different thread when time. Because of horrible family history, I am and have been very proactive throughout my life to avoid what the men in my family have gone through. So far I am doing good and want to stay proactive. PVCs on the surface aren't terrible but over time can wear on the heart and also to the degree that you have them which have become much more frequent for me and got scary just months ago, 48 hour monitor they set up on me showed 24,000 PVCs took place for the day or two that I wore it. Honestly I had worse then those two days in the past. Pages of ECGs that I printed pout from my Apple Watch readings and showed to the cardiologist is what actually bought about my cardiologist to hook me up to a holter

Thanks again and thanks for the good wishes from Jeff and Ws6 and others too. Appreachate it.

Now back to Tesla ;) I was driving next to a Model S on the interstate late today, actually both of us gently moving in and out of traffic passing cars. I was keeping up with him to confirm what model it was as my wife was checking it out to confirm as I got close. This was in a construction zone too*LOL*
On the outside anyway, a beautiful car, gorgeous blue color. Must have been new/looked new, low slung, wide tires, nice stance, very nice. The blue against what looked like (keep in mind we are doing close to 80 MPH in-between cement barrier's and trying my best to avoid them. The shine of the recessed door handles against the deep blue really catches the eye.
My wife wouldn't mind having one then saw the price point and said "oh well"
With that said  it should look that way at the price point and I think it does.
Ironically it got off our exit ramp and nearby road. We have two neighbors with Model 3 (?) I think they are pricey for the way they look but the S at least on the surface to our eyes at up to 80 MPH looks its price.

Just saying this cause people think I have an anti Tesla agenda, but I am just analytical for what I think are things overlooked or not taken into account. ;)

Unfortunately the only way to improve build quality is to start to eat into that big juicy 30% profit margin. Catch 22, since if they do, there goes their valuation regardless of a record quarter. That being said, Ikea is minimalist central, and some inexperienced folks consider their furniture "Luxury for less". I guess Tesla owners kind of believe in the same.

Kia/Hyundai interior/general quality look great on IQS tests, but they still lack tactile feel and quality. Toyota/Lexus does it right, seeing how all of their experience has been accumulated from years of progress since their $1billion Lexus LS initial RD project.

I had a rav4 Prime. It did not feel quality. In any way. I can't see how the eGMP twins could be worse.

More than 6 pvcs per minute is actionable. Id definitely be fixing this, if it were me. Seems you are. Has there been any runs if vtac, couplets, etc. Or is it all single pvcs?

Wow, I can tell you know what I am talking about. I really have to start another thread. Kind of cool someone knows what I am talking about. Yes, during the short time I had the holter on, middle of the night the holter showed one unsustained Vtach for 8 seconds. Yes, I think I saw mention of couplets. I have to take another look at the report. Also my doctors noticed over time my watch was picking up PACs.
( as always I have a lot more to say and just deleted an insane amount more of this post until I start a new thread, I pasted the rest in my notes for later today to tomorrow) Right now Im heading to the gym, workout 2 times a week at Orange Theory.
I have to say I really appreciate your comments, your use of words in your question, I can see you understand this stuff well.

I am sure labwork has been done and your magnesium levels are normal?
8 seconds of vtac is probably near a good 20 beats. This is very uncool. I definitely think that if this is medicated, it is insufficient for the condition and you definitely should have the procedure. Just my opinion.

To me EVs don’t make sense unless you own your own house, with the dedicated charger.
Here we pay the highest price for electric in the country. Why?
We are still paying for the Shoreham Nuclear power plant that the Government told us we needed. It was built, powered up and closed. And still we pay for it. In a stroke of “genius” Mario Cuomo realized there is no way Long Island could ever be evacuated. They didn’t know this 10 years before? Of course they did!
So the Government now it telling me I must buy an EV? Fool me once….
Show me the (non existent) proof of climate benefits; while certain unnamed other countries ignore all this….
Been through this once….
+1 A fellow L.I.'re here. An EV makes zero sense to me too. When I have no other choice and it comes down to walk or drive an EV I'll buy one. I have a feeling by that time I won't be driving anymore so it won't matter. I'm sure there are a lot of people that have the same feelings.

Living up there in the other “mandate capital” - I can see a very different EV outcome coming vs sunny CA.
