Tesla Discontinues Model X and Model S

I must be some sort of Hellseher, I predicted some years ago that the Berlin plant would go under and Musk gets the boot out of Europe.
Now the "genius" only has 2 models to sell, that is not going to cut it, the Koolaid drinkers can only support the company so long before they throw in the towel.

Add in Tesla claims no layoffs yet 1700 employees are saying they were layed off. "Volkswagen (VW) brand overtook Tesla to become the top-selling battery-electric vehicle (BEV) brand in Europe in 2025, driven by a 56% surge in sales to 274,417 units. While Tesla's sales fell by 27% to 238,765 units.
I keep hearing from certain members "wait till the big boys get in." That's 35,652 that vw sold over Tesla. That's a good chunk. The trillion dollar pay package approved by the bone head shareholders is part of the problem. It was merely a flex by Musk. Then throw in Optimus isn't even remotely ready. Musk danced around questions asking if Tesla uses them which should be a HUGE red flag.

I think all of Elon's success went to his head. He was always a bit out there mentally, but it worked in the past. Then he became successful and lost focus on what got him to where he is. I can't think of another situation where a CEO has managed to create, then subsequently destroy, as much business value as he has. Tesla no longer has any technological advantage over its rivals and is arguably behind in many areas (autonomous driving). His numerous business ventures (Tesla, Boring Company, Neuralink, SpaceX, X.ai) have left him distracted and spread too thin. At least Shotwell is doing a great job keeping SpaceX moving forward, but Starship is far behind. He should have stepped back from daily ops with some of these companies and appointed CEOs to run each one.

I personally never believe in Elon's claim and prediction to be on time, but Model X and S going out is pretty obvious as 1) they are not the only game in town and 2) they are not cheap enough for people to buy them in bulk like Model 3 or Y. Based on what I have heard Model YL (long leg room Model Y) is selling very well in China. So that cancellation is pretty obvious.

The reason for Optimus robot production? Because that makes people think they are further ahead than they actually were and that keeps the stock speculation going. People are always looking at Tesla into the future when investing instead of the NOW with price multiplier.

I'm surprised at the X ... There's a ton of them around here and they sell great.
You aren't mistaking the Model Y for the Model X, are you? While the Model X is larger, they look somewhat similar, both being considered SUVs.

Worldwide, Tesla only sold just over 13k Model X in 2025. Model 3/ Model Y sales combined for 2025 was 1.58 million, with the Model Y by far being the largest share of that.

I don't see model X owners jumping to a y or Cybertruck. Supposedly rumors are that the 3-row model y might make it to the USA, but where would it be built. Then throw in layoffs at the Tesla plant in Germany due to slow sales.
There weren't many X buyers to begin with.

The robots are the wave of the future. Wonder where a person would take them for repairs. Where I live if you need repairs on a Tesla the nearest service center is a 3 hour drive. If you wreck a Tesla it can take a while to get parts.

A new robot will show up in a self driving cyber truck and throw the broken one in the back. :ROFLMAO:

The Model S changed the world. Kinda hurts to see it go. You can say sales were low, which is certainoy true, but it regularly outsold the MBZ S and BMW 7 in the US. Not last year, though. It was long in the tooth.

Not a surprise... I've said this before but we need a CyberSuburban... a boxy full-size 3-row SUV built on the Cybertruck platform but with a slightly more conventional looking exterior and proper interior space instead of the bed. It would be the perfect vehicle IMO!

When there was a bigger gap between the mainstream Teslas and the premium Teslas, it made sense to have the S and X around. But as they improve the 3 and Y (owners who have had prior gen and current gen vehicles all say how much better the Juniper/Highland are than the previous ones) the S and X aren't "needed" for people that want a "nice" vehicle. And you get the same features at half the price. Sure they are smaller but the S/X are not "family hauler" vehicles anyway so the 3/Y make more sense for most people.

So given that sedans are outdated anyway and the Model 3 is pretty good nowadays especially in upper trims, and the Cybertruck is cheaper than the Model X, makes the S/X completely pointless. Many current S/X owners will simply move to another Tesla vehicle as nobody else offers the same features and software. S owners will go to the 3 or Y and X owners will go to the Y or Cybertruck.

Sure, a few people will move to Lucid or Rivian but unless people ditch their Tesla for political reasons (which despite being all over the news is actually not very common, by the numbers), Tesla owners are quite loyal!

Rivian has a future but Lucid really doesn't IMO.
Rivian might. They have more little quality control issues that pop up here and there. Jason Fenske had a misaligned frunk latch that was repaired quickly. Should that have been caught. Definitely. Tesla still has qc issues and they've been manufacturing vehicles since the end of 2012. Apparently in Europe things have changed. VW had an e-golf a few years ago that sold in low numbers. VW ev's have now outsold Tesla in Europe consistently. Something has swayed owners over there.

Why do investors keep falling for the dangling carrot in front of them? Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me.

I'd like to see auto manufacturers have to show buy backs (not just Tesla). You can say you sold some magical number but at the end of the day how many were lemon law buy backs? Now there's a difference between a minor issue and say a vehicle that leaks or bricks itself.

Both Being considered SUVs? I can maybe sorta see the model X as a “kind of SUV. But the model S? That’s the flattest pancake shaped SUV I’ve ever seen 😂 Definitely a sporty looking sedan, but how does one even define the term SUV anymore? 🙄
