Weight is one factor. Another factor is strength, as forged wheels are usually very strong compared to cast wheels (and also tend to be very expensive)

Performance wheels coupled with low sidewall tires on non-performance roads are a bad mix.
 
Then they cash in the forged advantage to make it thinner/lighter …
Ultimate strength and fracture resistance can be different animals …
I will stick with 18" and a bit of sidewall …
 
my truck came with 20s, even though I asked if we could swap 18s on to it.

I since found a set of used ford OEM takeoff 18s for not much monies, which are sitting in my garage for the time when new tires go on. OEM 18s are pressure forged vs aftermarket gravity forged, saving about 6-8lbs per wheel. I'm looking forward to the change.
