Tell me about Mazda, maybe the CX 30

Old thread, I know.

The 30 has too small of a fuel tank for my liking. The 5 has two extra gallon capacity. Overall it’s close to the capacity in my Crosstrek.
I get 300 miles to a tank with my turbo. The NA would do better. It’s not great but I’ve had vehicles with less range too.

My 3 has an ~15 gallon tank (60L IIRC) and I don't have a 400 mile bladder, so it's effectively wasted space.

IIRC, this has a 50L tank, and we still don't go anywhere near that distance between fillups.

I've never driven or been in a 3, but I did test drive a 2021 CX-5 a month or so back. I loved it. To me the interiors on them are incredibly nice for the segment. Super well placed switchgear and I thought the scroll wheel/knob was nice as opposed to touch screen. I'm not a big electronics/options guy though.

What I didn't like of the 3 low mile 2021s they had was 2 of them had small rust spots under the doors or hatch area in the crimp. They were also around $3k more than I wanted to spend.

I wound up taking home my 2021 Equinox from them instead and I'm thrilled with it. I'm getting some unbelievable fuel economy out of that little 1.5t 6spd AWD combo.

Does anything older than 10 days old in your neck of the woods not have rust, LOL?

A typical daily driven, 2014 model year in Buffalo NY is very close to crusher material unless meticulous precautions have been taken.

In the case of the Mazdas I mentioned above, these weren't even 4yrs old and the white one with 24K miles on it I test drove (lease return with regular dealer maint) had quite a bit of under-body rust and rust spots in the door crimp welds. A black one I looked at had some spots under the lift gate and rust where the rear license plate rubbed the lift gate.

The last Mazda I had any rust issues with was my 2003 Protege5.

My 2012 3 is still solid at 198xxx miles. I've owned it for 130k miles of it's life.

The P5 was still good enough to sell, but one of the back wheel arches was perforated in 2017. So it made it 14 years in downstate IL.

I just traded it on the 3 as I asked for enough to cover the tax, tags, and title. It had about 225k miles IIRC, so it had a good run.

But yes, my environment isn't as "salted" as where you live, so I have a bit more margin :)
