Mystic,

Exactly how would you know if the analysis was done on the oil with 300K mile? For all you know, the oil sent for analysis had only 3K miles on it. How would you know???

At some time in our life, we have to use the god-given brain cells to make judicious decisions. If logic and experience tells us that somebody is feeding us bovine excrement, there is no point in asking for a proof to the contrary. Nothing they do will be good enough as a proof.

Let it go.

- Vikas

Mystic, of course I can not satisfy your demands for proof.
I am not willing to use that amount of money.
I am just a private person, who has experienced an oil that is performing much better than all others.
About used oil analysis, it is also needed to do a VOA, since you need to know what amount of particles being in it, from the beginning.
Besides, a used oil analysis is not the holy grail, like you tend to believe.

It is even easier to manipulate used oil analysis, than other numbers.

If I wanted to be a real [censored], I could just send in an oil and claim it has gone xxxxxx number of miles, when it has only been doing 1000 miles.....

I don't see how it can be done.

When I started to use Synlube, it told that it would last 150000 miles.....
But, if you put it in an engine/car that had 6000 miles or less on the odometer, it was able to do 300000 miles.
If using their micro glass filter and magnets on the oil filter.

Synlube is now a Distributor for Filtermag, guess they think Filtermag magnets are better than the ones they were selling.

I wonder if they will be replacing there oil filters with the Amsoil EaO Oil Filters.

This thread is fun.

I agree about this tread being fun.

I meant you should use their microglass filter(or any microglass filter you can get your hands on, with a decent quality).
The magnets Synlube provide, should be good enough.

Personally, I use some Neodymium magnets, that I had available.

I guess the Filtermag magnets will be good enough, since Synlube is selling them together with their oil.
The point is that the magnet should be strong enough.
Most persons don't know what type of magnets to use.

If the Amsoil Eao Filters have any advantages, compared to what Synlube is selling now, I guess it will be available.

+1 I would be the first person who wouldn't believe a Synlube UOA unless it was a reasonable OCI, or I myself sent in the sample. Like so many other products, when I see the masses flocking toward the product and reporting positive results I will consider it. Otherwise I'll pass and continue to read threads like this about Synlube.

Well, Vikas, I can use my brain cells and I will be darned if I will buy a motor oil where incredible claims are made just by reading what is said at a website.

Yes, it is true, we could not accept a used oil analysis from Synlube. We would be taking them on faith. We would have to obtain the used oil analysis from somebody who is actually willing to give this Synlube a trial-somebody we can trust. A longtime member of this site. Maybe that person could carefully run longer and longer used oil analysis so that we could find out how far this oil is actually good for. It is apparently a reasonably good oil because there was a 16,000 mile used oil analysis done.

But the claim is that it can go 15 years or 150,000 miles. I will not be the first person to try it-I will tell you that.

No words at a website and nothing jonny-b says will convince me to try this oil. Only if somebody actually does give it a try (somebody we can trust) and we find out it can actually go 150,000 miles would I be willing to use it. I doubt very seriously that ANY oil can go 150,000 miles on one oil change. Amsoil has some oils they say will go 35,000 miles.

Unless and until there is an actual 150,000 mile used oil analysis of Synlube done by somebody we can trust it is a no sale to me. I do not actually expect such a used oil analysis of course. Perhaps you do not understand what I was doing here. Do you think I actually expected such a used oil analysis to appear?

Some people showed up making incredible claims about a motor oil. I know nothing about these people. Do you? Did I not do a good investigative piece of work here? I did not merely go to the Synlube website and make a purchase, did I? Are we not supposed to be trying at this website to find the best motor oils, oil filters, etc? Do people not do VOAs and used oil analysis to find out how various motor oils actually performed? They don't just take Pennzoil's or Valvoline's words, do they?

How do we find out what the best motor oils are? People at this website do VOAs and used oil analysis all the time. We don't just rely on advertisting or what is said at websites. We make an actual effort to find out what is the best.

Do you think I actually expected somebody to risk the engine in their car or truck to find out if Synlube is really good for 150,000 miles? That is unlikely. But if somebody does do such an experiment we can find something out.

In a nut shell no one on this site is going to run any oil for 150,000 miles. So any evidence will come in the form of company statements. I've read a lot of company claims about various products on this site, some I believe, most are [censored]. JMO

Well, jonny-b, it seems to me that you used the Synlube for 73,000 kilometers, and then you decided to try something else.

Don't worry, I do not really expect Synlube to provide a used oil analysis. We would not be able to find out the actual mileage anyway. Maybe somebody here will actually try out Synlube for 150,000 miles. I doubt it very seriously.

And somebody if they are curious enough can buy some and do a VOA. Maybe somebody just might. And we do have a 16,000 mile used oil analysis.

People here can make up their own minds based on what has been said here. Don't expect me to buy your Synlube, especially after the personal attacks. After those personal attacks I decided I would not just drop this. I don't especially like personal attack made on me. I have a right to question incredible claims. I think any professional motor oil company would consider 150,000 mile oil changes to be fairly incredible claims. Unless there is also a very large oil pan, awesome physical AND CHEMICAL filtering, and a lot of add oil. I was not born yesterday. I may be frozen in time but I do know a little about motor oil.

I want to use a motor oil that is approved by the SAE and the API. I admit I did use Amsoil once and it was not approved but I had a considerable amount of confidence in Amsoil. And I have used a fewoil supplements, including some I probably should not have used.

I will stick to Pennzoil, thank you. I have a lot of confidence in Pennzoil. Which is a lot cheaper than Synlube and that makes the additional oil changes A-OK. Not to mention the fact that an oil change deals with the physical and chemical contamination that takes place in a motor oil and also the oxidation. I am confident Pennzoil Ultra is just as good as Synlube for a 10,000 mile oil change.

Well, Mystic.
Then I have a question for you; why don't you just try it for 3000 or 5000 miles, and see what happens?

The only thing you will loose, is the postage being paid to return the oil!

Besides, getting to know about a new product this way, isn't the worst thing to do.

Besides, since you are claiming that Synlube is a scam, where are all the posts from persons having used it and had their engines ruined?

It has been for sale quite a few years now, and I think it should be quite easy to find, if something was wrong with it.

I still haven't seen any negative about it, from any person that have USED it.

Or, do you think these people with destroyed engines because of using Synlube, have been forming a secret club, or something, to keep their findings for themselves?

From their site:

9.) You must replace the SynLube™ lubricants regularly:

Engine: every 50,000 miles or every 5 years*
Automatic Transmission** every: 30,000 miles or every 3 years
Manual Transmission every: 100,000 miles*
Differential(s) or Rear End every: 100,000 miles*

They claim 50,000 mile OCI or 5 years.

I didn't spend much time on the site but where is the satisfaction guarantee? You mentioned this:

Yes, here they are again! The personal insults. Do you hurl insults at anybody who disagrees with you, jonny-b? Do you think that makes you look impressive to other people at this website? And I never said that Synlube is a scam. I am entitled to my own opinion, and other people are entitled to theirs.

Yeah, I do know how to do searches on the web. I will let you in on a little secret, jonny-b. I probably knew about Synlube years before you discovered it. In fact I have an old magazine that talks a little about Synlube.

I have been on the internet since 1995. How about you? I may be an old guy frozen in time but I picked up computers pretty quick. I use computers every day, at work and at home. Before we had Windows at work (we started with Windows 3.1) we had Unix with a special GUI. I have used almost every version of Apple's O/Ss since Mac O/S 7.5.4 and I have used every version of Windows since 3.1 with the possible exception of Windows ME. I have even used a version of Linux. What about you?

If you had not insulted me I just would have dropped all of this. Heck, I don't care about Synlube. I would never use such a product with such incredible claims unless there was some solid evidence.

Now, if there was actual proof that Synlube was so great a lot of people would start using it. Including me. But I will not be the first in line.

This post was about Teflon (PTFE) and you and another person decided to bring in Synlube. I was not the person who brought in Synlube.

Heck, you said that you used Synlube for 73,000 kilometers, and then you decided to go to something else. That is in one of your postings above. Do you remember?

Good job, demarpaint! Well, now we are down to 50,000 miles or every 5 years. Heck Amsoil is cheaper than Synlube and you can go 25,000 or even 35,000 miles with their oils! And jonny-b you went 73,000 kilometers (45,000 miles) so you went a little less than what they say you can do.

And apparently no satisfaction guarantee? I will think twice about that 5000 mile trial and then get my money back.

And apparently some of us old guys frozen in time can do web searches.

Were things easier at the 'other board?'

Well jonny-b, sometimes you get what you wish for. One of the old guys frozen in time decided to do a little search of the Synlube website.

I was kind of wondering myself because what I remember from the magazine article was 50,000 miles for Synlube. That old magazine is around here somewhere but I can't find it right away.

I don't want you thinking that I can't do a web search so I just might check out the Synlube website. It does not impress me (I already spend a little time there) but you can't really judge a website by its appearance. I am kind of curious what the Synlube website says about Mobil 1. Somebody said that Mobil 1 was put down pretty good at the website.

We do have that one 16,000 mile UOA and since Synlube is actually supposed to be changed every 50,000 miles we can probably look at the UOA that is already available and make some guesses about what Synlube would be like at 50,000 miles. And it becomes more likely that perhaps somebody will actually try the stuff for 50,000 miles.

I doubt it is drastically superior to Amsoil. And Amsoil oils can go 25,000 miles (35,000 in some cases) at a much better price. A person could easily afford two Amsoil oil changes for the price of this Synlube.

Mystic, see if you can find some kind of guarantee. I looked but really didn't spend much time. If you find it let me know.

Thanks!

Well, Synlube fans are appearing everywhere here! There is a brand new member (Captain_Kirk) and in his first post he says that he has had stellar results with Synlube for ten years! Welcome Captain_Kirk! Now he can tell us about his experiences with Synlube.

It is correct that they have an oil that is good for 50000 miles, but I guess you don't want that one?
It cost almost the same.

This shows that if you want to find something not quite relevant, then you will.

It took me a few seconds to find this:

SynLube™ does not oxidize nor decompose like conventional Petroleum or Synthetic Motor Oils. It can be therefore used, without oil changes, for up to 15 Years / 150,000 Miles or for up to
4,000 Hours of Engine operation in Gasoline Engines, or up to 2,000 Hours in Diesel Engines.

SynLube™ Lube-4-Life ® ...for Engines is backed up, if installed in NEW vehicles, by our exclusive Limited Lubrication Performance Warranty for up to:
15 Years or 150,000 Miles (15 years or 240,000 Kilometers)
see: Warranty in Services section for details.

Again, of course it is possible to buy the 50000 mile oil, but why buy an oil that is giving you less protection?

As mentioned at the other board, they also sell Delvac 1 as an extra service, for cars that use a lot of oil, and where the owner don't want to use any money to fix it.

This is to give a complete service for fleet owners.

You can also read about it, over at the other board.

I still doesn't understand why you keep asking these questions and throwing out claims about Synlube, since you obviously don't want any knowledge about it?

Enlighten me, and tell me why.

If you want some info, it is not enough to read one page, and say that you know all about it.

Demarpaint, I can't really remember that I have said anything about satisfaction guarantee.

I said quite clearly that if you are not satisfied with the oil after using it, you can just drain it and return it.
You get back the money you paid for it.

Try to do that with Pennzoil Ultra!!!

And, you also get your money back when you finally decide to change it, if it is after 2 years or after 10 years.

I guess you get the money back when you return the oil you are using now?

If you don't, why not?

Is it because it is useless, after being inside your engine?

Another thing you can do, is to compare specifications.

Viscosity Index, temperature range and the others.

I guess even a few persons here can be able to find it.

But, the most impressing thing about it, is the way that it is delivering the same performance, day in and day out.

It is just sad that so few will experience it.

Once again I will try to sum it up:

-Synlube performs better than other oil
-it will not loose its performance after several years
-it cost nothing(since you get back the money you paid for it)
-it is proven to work over several million miles in thousands of cars
-it has been used by NASA
-it will actually give you engine-insurance, against oil-related issues, if you put it in a new car (it cost nothing extra to get this)
-your car will use less oil
-you don't have to build an extra house for your oil-stash

Synlube have some 13000 returning customers (at least they had it last time I checked), and even though these customers only need a fraction of the oil they normally would have with other oils, they still buy some Add-oil( that cost 20 usd).

So, all in all, you are happy when you can be allowed to pay to use a lower quality product?
It is so simple as that, since you do it now!
