Tc-w3 in gas engine

Hi Mephy,

How was the Mystik oil better than the rest?
It is very robust oil you can see when you pour it right away, the cleaning is superior my exhaust pipe is very clean no carbon deposit.
If you use regular tcw3, the blu thin oil, you will feel the difference right away due to his viscosity.
And on top of that the price is in the average of TCW3 oils.

All In One type I use, tried the regular and the systetic of Mystick they do not work good as that.

I currently use Pennzoil Premium Outboard and Multi-purpose oil. It's less than $20 a gallon. Maybe Mystik is cheap in Canada but I cannot find it for less than double the Pennzoil price.

How much is the regular TCW3 of Mystik?
All In One Is more expensive and the synthetic which is a JASO is very expensive.

$42.59 for a gallon of the regular Mystik TCW3 is the best I can find. The All-in-one is $57.14 from the same online vendor.

You exhaust pipe probably has no carbon deposits becuase either your engine is clean or it may not be doing anything. Now, if you find a benefit, then keep using this 2 stroke oil. My thought is that I would rather have carbon deposits on my exhaust pipe versus it being in the engine. I did look at the specs on this 2 cycle oil and I do not see anything special about what you are using.

I think that the exhaust pipe is the image of the carbon deposit that you can have in the engine.

So far I do not use anymore system cleaners before oil change form years.

I had carbon deposits from using tcw-3, but I was doing some short trip driving, now I am not doing that and no more deposits. My thought is short trip driving will cause some deposits on the tailpipe since the engine may be running rich or something.

Well, I've tried adding approx 1/4 a quart of Valvoline 461 a couple tanks in a row and seemed to pick up about 1-1.5MPG according to my Escape's onboard MPG calculation.

Another possibility is the tailpipe deposits were the coming from carbon deposits being removed from the combustion chambers as the tcw-3 was doing it's job. It could be the now lack of tailpipe deposits mean the combustion chambers have been cleaned.

That carbon would be incinerated in the converter.

Hmm... Would it matter how much carbon deposits the cat has to deal with? I see many tailpipes thoroughly coated with carbon deposits. Why doesn't the cat stop that? And where does the carbon go when it's incinerated? It cannot simply vanish into thin air. It's got to be "converted" into something. Not trying to be contentious. It's just how I am.

I see your point, and did not think about that, another good thing about tcw-3 in the fuel from what I have read and also experienced, is that the removal of spark plugs is easier because of maybe less carbon deposits.

Carbon Burns into CO2. In exhaust is a bit oxygen, burn rate is slow.
Gasoline make soot. If rate of soot making is bigger than burning, layer increases.
My LPG exhaust has no soot.
