Anybody do it ?
Anybody have it done with exceptional (or poor) results ?
My 90 year old Uncle took his Deer Head (20 point) to a Taxidermist to have the broken antler repaired.
I always thought Taxidermist were perfectionist , (that it went with the job), I guess I was wrong.
The repair had a gap of 1/32" in areas and looked terrible.
If I did the repair (I'm NOT a Taxidermist), I would have drilled and doweled, and then epoxy the broken piece on.
It would have had perfect alignment and any discoloration (at the break) would have been colored in.
Well, I rehung the Dear Hear about 10' off the floor and at that distance it's not noticeable.
My Uncle said he was charged $10 and is happy.
I was very disappointed in the quality of this guys work.
Rant over.
Have a great Weekend.
