One of these should get the vinyl off pretty quickly.
You will need to get violent with them though. No way around it with such old adhesive.

I ended up with a similar tool. Different brand, same design.
I found that by cutting the flooring into about 9" wide strips, I can get under the tail, by using a tool like that. Then, the strip of vinyl flooring can be easily pulled up from the adhesive. Very minimal scraping. No grinding. Nothing to create dust, that would release asbestos from the flooring or adhesive. But just in case, I am wearing a respirator.
I think I am going to leave the adhesive in place. With the flooring removed, the adhesive itself, is thin enough that the flooring can make the transition, from just the MDF subfloor, to the adhesive covered MDF subfloor, without messing with the laminate flooring.
But, if my OCD goes in overdrive, and I can't leave the adhesive, I have found solvents made specifically for this task. Put down the solvent, wait for it to soften the adhesive, scrape up the softened, gooey adhesive, damp mop with water. Vola, a clean subfloor, ready for the laminate, without creating any dust at all, that could release asbestos.
